We are getting a ferret from a friend who doesn't have time for him. He is fixed, litter trained and very friendly. His name is Grizzly. He already has a cage and all his supplys plus all his shots for the year, but I am looking for tips and tricks to keep him happy and healthy.

I had 2, a male and female. They are like having a 2 year old, and are a lot of fun. They love baths, and sweets so be careful they are sneaky and will steal candy and stuff! We gave them special vitimins that you can get at the pet store, as well as hammocks and tunnels for thier cages, they love that kind of stuff.
A word to the wise... I also had pet guinea pigs, and little did I know that to a ferret this is dinner. Seems that ferrets aren't rodents, they are related to weasles and are hunters. Needless to say, my female escaped her cage and took out all 4 piggies in no time at all. So, if you have small animals other than the ferret be very careful!
Good luck, they are such fun pets!

Ferrets are wonderful pets. If you have lots of time to give him they just play with him everyday and let him out as much as you can in a ferret proof room. Those little guys can get into everything.
IF you don't have time then it would be best to get him a little friend to play with they do best in pairs or large groups. watching to ferrets play is very entertaining.
