Yes a republic is better.
A republic is a self governing forum wherein a free, sovereign, moral, and enlightened people guarantee to one another and to all minorities the right and obligation to have, retain, and protect each other's God given common Rights to Life, Freedom, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness in their separate capacities as free inhabitants and or as free Sovereign people within a nation, state (nation state), and or a country, all by positively accepting the Oaths as recipients of the oaths of their servants holding public office
"Democracy"
(means "Priest rule")
"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to selfishness; from selfishness to complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependency; from dependency back again to bondage."
--Attributed to Scottish History Professor at University of Edinburgh Sir Alexander Fraser Tytler (1747-1813) and others

Democracies have a very dismal history and republics have some very strong points and longetivity that makes many call them (usually mistakenly as a democracy) the best form of government. However, they only work well if the society has the necessary background to making them work and in many cultures, they are worse then other forms. For instance, in Islamic cultures, to date, there has never been a truly working republic (Turkey comes real close but only because the Turkish military has been the protector of secular government and has their fingers in all levels of government). Some would argue that, at least in the short term, a benevolent dictatorship is the best form of government since republics tend to move like molasses while in the other form, dictator says, it happens.
Bottom line is best is what works best for that particular culture. For modern western cultures, republics work best.

A republic is a form of democracy. It was invented because a true democracy fails. The moment the voters realize they can vote themselves money from the public treasury democracy ends. Do you need more proof of that fact than the days we live in right now?

Democracies on a mass level are horribly inefficient. While a republic is slow it still moves faster than a democracy. A republic is somewhere between a dictator ship and a democracy on that level. It is truly the best one for this nation, as long as we can keep socialism out of it (it fell Rome).

Yes, a republic is best because it has the rule of law. A pure democracy is mob rule.
When the U.S. was founded, only land owners could vote. They knew that if a whole bunch of uneducated people voted, the result for the country might be anarchy or collapse.
If and when America collapses it will probably be due to a majority of "give me, give me" voters having their way.

A republic is better than a democracy in my opinion. It's the better between the two.

Yes, because the decision-making powers is more organized and doesn't include endless influence from every single person that cares. Additionally, most people are ignorant to most issues, and so their opinions/votes would be misguided. What's more, we have way too many people in the United States to actually allow every person to vote after being presented with a topic.

who knows that is just what we are told. It is definitely successful. I don't think true Democracy has been tried. And Chins is still giving their version of Communism a run and it will someday rival our republic.

Look around at the world, we have yet to discover/invent the best form of government.
