Why Would You Vote For a Man who gives Up His Church to Get Elected.?
Obama just resigned from his church "with some sadness."
Is this the kind of guy we want in office? No backbone at all, gives up his church just to get elected!
He's been a member of that church for over 20 years, listened to it all, including the guest preachers, and now that it's an embarrassment to his campaign, he cuts them loose.
What a backstabbing loser.
Oh, and BTW, I'm a liberal. Electing Obama would be like electing David Duke.

Truth is, he was screwed when it was exposed that he attended this church for 20 years in the first place.
I'd actually have more respect for him if he had stood up and defended his church. After all, how do you distance yourself from something that you have done for 3/4 OF YOUR ADULT LIFE? and expect people to believe you?
It just proves he is willing to throw anyone under the bus in order to get elected

I would not vote for him. It is amazing after last two pastor controversy finally got to him reigned his church membership at Trinity after these 20 yrs. Oprah Winfrey was already a famous host at that time as she only been in that Church for 2 yrs and she felt uncomfortable with it, and immediatedly resigned at Trinity.Oprah did not do it for her own celebrity status. I just wondered why so long to convince Barack Obama to that he felt it was "too much" to deal with it" Once again,he just wanted to give his Church and himself a break by gave up his Church membership at Trinity, but it still will come back to bite him from time to time.

Actually if you read the article carefully the reason he's leaving the church at all is to protect the church from media attetion... so it can go on spewing its hatred in secret, like it has all along.
If he really didn't believe the things said by those preachers then he would have immediately expressed shock and outrage when the videos first became public.... notice that wasn't what happened.

Hi poor church member were being analyzed to death. Reporters were going to sick church members homes in an attempt to get some dirt on obama. Even a visiting priest was put under a magnifying glass for his words. That priest didn't even belong to the congregation. Obama had no choice. He did not disrespect them in any way, quite the contrary. He still cares for the members. If you can't believe that so be it.

Obama is having to cut everyone lose he surrounds himself with, but it's just for a little while though don't worry.
He just has to make it look like he's not going to have anything to do with these radical divisive friends anymore, and everyone will believe him, it's no biggie it was only for 20 years.
“He didn't distance himself. He had to distance himself, because he's a politician, from what the media was saying I had said, which was portrayed as anti-American. … He did, as I said, what politicians do.” ~ Jeremiah Wright
( I will never vote for him )

There are so many prominent pastors who say so many awful, outrageous, and prejudiced comments involved in politics that this has pretty much gone over my head like water on a duck's back. Yeah, Obama's pastors suck. So do the Catholic priests who preach hatred of women and gays. So does John Hagee who insisted that New Orleans was punished with Katrina by God. So did Jerry Falwell. So does Jesse Jackson. So does....
And it's not that I'm anti-Christian or anything stupid like that; it's just that I think our Founding Fathers got it so very right about that separation of church and state thing and these power-lusting idiots prove it.

#1 It is not a church it is a cult
#2 He didn't give it up - He is taking a leave of absence
#3 If getting elected was what he thought this latest ploy would accomplish - he sure did waste his time!

If he did not share the views of Wright, he would have left years ago.
Oprah did not stay a member of that church for long.

Obama is a complete joke, why would his means of worship be any different?!?
Obama is not a uniter, he is not charismatic, he is not well spoken, and he is not qualified (by any stretch of the imagination) to hold the office of president. As I have always asserted, he is nothing more than a self-loathing black man who blames his white mother for his absent black father and he has a less than honorable personal agenda.

His church was being threatened with bomb threats and death threats. It was becoming a safety issue. Obama didn't want to draw anymore danger or negative attention to the church.
