I was just wondering, do I have to watch the first Narnia to understand the second one?

The clean answer is there is no need to see LW&W to understand Prince Caspian. However, it may make viewing the second installment a tad easier to understand. You would know all of the characters and understand the remarkably few references made to the previous tale. Well, there is one large reference to the previous tale, but one could muddle through that. Do yourself a favor - rent The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. It's a great adventure and the battle scene ROCKS!

You understand more if you watch the first one and it's easier to imagine Narnia compared to Narnia in the second. But you could see it without watching it. It doesn't make it any less enjoyable.

It would be helpful, for understanding who the characters are, the movie takes place in Narnia 1000 years after the first one.

Totally! The second Narnia is just the next series, there's a long way to go. but, yah, you do have to watch The lion the witch and the wardrobe to understand Prince Caspian....

yes but the Prince Caspian is the 4th book and the lion the witch and the wardrobe is the second book but without seeing the first narnia movie you may not understand some parts of the second film

The second movie is a direct sequel to the first, continuing the story, so it'd be like watching The Empire Strikes Back without ever having seen the first Star Wars movie.

You don't HAVE to have watched the first, but you'll be wondering what the heck some things are about if you don't.

They do connect in many ways, like the background of Narnia and its history, but the plot is different in this one, so it might be better to see the first one first, but you don't really need to.

It's a series so it might be a good idea (the first one is awesome by the way) If you read the books and know the plot (like I have) though, it doesn't really matter.
