Never. She was (and is) "full of grace." Think of Mary as a cup full of water. If the cup is full, there is no room for anything else. Mary was "full of grace." Therefore she wasn't lacking any grace and there was no room for sin.
"The most Blessed Virgin Mary was, from the first moment of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of almighty God and by virtue of the merits of Jesus Christ, Savior of the human race, preserved immune from all stain of original sin."--Pope Pius IX

Yes. The only being that has walked the Earth that was a non-sinner was Jesus himself. Mary probably lied in her lifetime and maybe cheated or stole something as a child. She probably disobeyed her parents like all children do at one time or another. But she conceived child without sexually relations which makes her a Saint, she carried Jesus for 9 months and gave birth to him and raised him, but she was a sinner like you and me and everyone else on Earth.

Do you know why God has never used anybody who is
perfect? Because there is no such thing as a perfect person.
Everyone, even Mary, falls short of the glory of God.
Of course Mary was a sinner; everyone sins - but she was
a person who sincerely loved God and tried her best to be
as good a person as possible, and because of that, she found favor with God. You can also find favor with God;
its called grace - the unmerited favor of God.

According to Catholic mythology, Mary was conceived without original sin, so that she would be an acceptable vessel for the Messiah. This is the Catholic doctrine referred to as "Immaculate Conception." This means Mary would have not only been sinless, but original-sinless. This specific view is only held by Catholics, however. Protestant Christians hold differing beliefs.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the concept of Immaculate Conception, here is the Wikipedia entry on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immaculate_conception Note that in the very first paragraph it states that Mary was not only conceived without original sin, but never sinned in her entire life. Again, this is a specific belief of one particular sect of Christianity.
Anything is possible in mythology, that's why people are so fond of myths, and why such stories can be so potent.
Source(s): churchboyknowsbest, please do read the Wiki article I posted above; you are incorrect when you say that it is "written in the Bible that Mary was born without original sin." There is NO mention of it in the Bible. The Immaculate Conception was solemnly defined as a dogma by Pope Pius IX in his constitution Ineffabilis Deus, on December 8, 1854. (That's only a hundred and fifty years ago, not Biblical times. While the rest of the world was discovering microbes and inventing steam engines, the Vatican was inventing new, outrageous myths for people to believe in.) The scripture used to justify this dogma is painfully flimsy. The Catholic church has many dogma such as this- beliefs that have no scriptural basis or are backed by only the palest shadow of scripture. (This includes other dogma such as Purgatory, Limbo, the Assumption of Mary, Transubstantiation of the Host, and dozens more.) When you actually start reading about these things you realize that the people in power invented stuff to suit whatever purpose they had at the time, and went digging for ANYTHING in the scripture that could even remotely back them up. Good defense attorneys do the same thing today, defending the obviously guilty. Honestly, the only thing that makes me more sick to my stomach than modern "Christianity" is that 99.99% of Christians have no idea whatsoever what's behind the beliefs they hold so dear. As for my source: I was a devout and earnest Catholic for 20 years, rigorously schooled in Catholic dogma both at home, church and school. I have a full understanding of Catholic dogma, which is part of the reason that atheism is such an obviously sensible choice for me. - Anonymous1 decade ago
