My pup had the same problem! She was healthy and happy, loved her food (Orijen LBP), but had soft stools. I researched all over the internet and came to some conclusions that might help you in your situation. My vet had put my pup on several rounds of antibiotics, for parasites, for an upset tummy, (it seemed like) for any old thing! The antibiotics may have been helping her, but they were also killing off all the good bacteria in her gut that help her break down and utilize her food. So I began supplementing her meals with a mix of probiotics and enzymes. (That bit of info might not pertain to you, but the rest should.) I also began thinking about a sensitivity, if not an allergy, to one of the ingredients in her food. Up until then all her food had chicken and I had read that chicken is one of the most common causes of allergies or intolerances. So I switched my pup to Orijen 6 Fresh Fish. I didn't transition slowly, as you should normally, because I figured if she was allergic to chicken there was no sense in continuing to feed it to her. It seemed almost instantly her stools "looked" better. However, they still felt soft. After about two weeks they really began to firm up! I also began to add Honest Kitchen Perfect Form at that time. It is an herbal supplement with fiber, enzymes and herbs that soothes the digestive tract. Since then she's been problem free with very healthy, firm stools. Since she never developed other symptoms of allergies (like itching, etc), I think she most likely just has a sensitivity to chicken and the same could be true for your pup.

I guess long story short, I would experiment with a chicken free diet and at the very least try Honest Kitchen Perfect Form supplement. Good luck!

That can be the sign of a mild allergy, or just that the food is too rich. Many of the designer brands simply have too much great stuff in them, and dogs are not made to eat that all the time. Top food allergens are corn, chicken, beef, soy, wheat nd dairy, but can be anything, even in minute amounts.

You can either get a different food, or try adding some canned pumpkin pie filling if you insist on sticking with the Orijen.

I would not keep feeding it to her, however, because it sounds like the wrong diet for her, and eventually her GI tract will revolt, and you will end up with an imbalance of flora.

Try adding in another food, what you think is a lesser brand. If you get to the point where the poop looks good, that is where you should be heading.

My high powered stock dog is on Nutro lamb & rice, and constantly gets compliments - her fur is gleaming, and she is extremely fit. Textbook poops, too.

If people would read poop instead of the label on the bag, they would all have healthy dogs. It's that simple.

Orijen is an excellent food, but some dogs don't tolerate it. My Lab absolutely loved Orijen, she would devour her food as soon as I placed it in front of her. However, Orijen was too rich for her and the vet said to switch her food because she was getting chunky on it. And I couldn't just reduce the amount I fed to her because it's formulated to provide a certain balance of nutrients in a serving. Reduce the portion size and she wouldn't get everything she needed in the proper amounts. It broke my heart to take her off it, she loved it so much and I know the ingredients were amazing in it. She's on Wellness now but doesn't have the same enthusiasm for it as she did for Orijen.

Unfortunately, you may have to switch your pup's food.

My pup had the same problem and after checking her for everything the vet thought it might be a fiber issue. We put her on W/D prescription food and low and behold, her poo finally firmed up. Good luck!

First off I hope you check with the package and are only feeding her the daily recommendation. Dogs generally do not regulate their eating, they will keep eating.
