Housing Costs in Vancouver (Canada) for Ongoing monthly Rental?

I know that housing in Vancouver (BC) is expensive, but how much would I have to pay for a decent bachelor apartment or housekeeping room fairly convenient to downtown? Any leads would be appreciated. Mid-July arrival.

    downtown area housings are very expensive. A 3 bedroom apartment with a good view was rented for $2800 a few days ago. A bachelor apartment might be at least 1100. Burnaby is good and a little cheaper. You can get a 1 bedroom for 1000 near skytrain. Skytrain can get you to Vancouver in 15 minutes from Burnaby and around 40 minutes from Surey. You can probably find a bachelor in surey for 600 or even 500 if you search hard. Not the best neighbourhoods though.
