So Thai Airways screwed me over, any other suggestions?

I called them today and they happen to decide to cancel the JFK - Bangkok flight as of July. Lucky for me, I had already bought the ticket and paid for it for a trip this winter so they are supposedly refunding my money. Does anyone know how long that will take? Anyone have any suggestions on Airlines with good prices I can take from JFK to Bangkok? I checked Singapore Airlines because they have a similar route but it says the tickets are sold out. I was thinking Japan Airlines. Suggestions? Comments?

Update:

The route is definitely canceled because when I called them the manager said that they had just came out of a meeting about it and she offered me a refund.

Try Cathay Pacific Airways, they have direct flights to Hong Kong and connecting flights through Vanouver to Hong Kong and many flights daily to Bangkok from Hong Kong. You can also see if Thai can connect you through LAX since they cancelled the JFK route. China Airlines (Taiwan) and Japan Airlines are other options, as well as a few others. I live in Thailand and have flown all the above airlines and from personal experience Cathay is the best airline other than Singapore which you say is sold out. Good luck.

Yes Thai closes their flights to NY starting July , regarding the rising of the fuel cost. Flying from JFK to Asia is considerably closer via the Atlantic instead of the Pacific, so try to find airlines with via Atlantic path/ connection.

For the route you requested, most Middle Eastern carriers provides good 1 stop connection, comfortable seat and personal inflight entertainment, and reasonable fare. My suggestion is try to find out about Qatar Airways or Emirates. If Singapore Airlines really sold out (both the direct flight to Singapore from EWR or the via Frankfurt flight from JFK) try Malaysia Airlines as an alternative.

If you are decided to use asian carriers other than the nonstop Singapore Airlines, the flying itirenary would always contain at least 2 stops/transit/tansfers before arriving in Bangkok. European carriers could also becoming a good option if you dont really bother with the lack of entertainment facilities for the economy class passangers.using USA carriers might cost you a bit since most of their flight to Asian cities are based on code share agreement, so you might end up with changing planes in many stops,

Dude, they won't cancel it. You have nothing to worry about. Just turn up at the airport when you are supposed to, and go on your merry way. It's all a big hoax!
