Technical Car Question~What does the ASB sign mean???
The "ASB" light on my car stays on now... is this something I should be concerned about....
More details: ASB light is right next to oil light (for maintenance).
The light usually just turns on for a second when I start the engine, but now it stays on... I'm getting concerned.
What does it mean?
What can I do?
Is there an option to fix it without taking it to the shop?
If it helps, I have a 97' acura integra

I think you mean ABS. Which is Anti-Lock Braking system. If the light comes on that means your ABS needs servicing, get your brakes checked and see what's up. Your ABS brakes aren't functioning, you still have normal brakes though and they should work fine in the mean time, but you won't have ABS braking until you get that fixed. You should be concerned about it since ABS brakes are a safety feature, in fact anything having to do with your brakes should be taken care of immediately.

It's amazing because my ABS light did not come on at all in three years. I got a jump today because my car wouldn't star and after that, the ABS light came on and it stays on. I took it to the Acura Dealer and one person said it may go off after awhile...or they may have to reset something which cost $129.00...Really...then another person at the dealer told me that I have to get it checked out to see why the light is staying on.

that is the computers way of informing you of a problem with the abs system. that system gets complex, you should get to a shop and let a pro take care of it.

you must be thinking about ABS , that means anti-lock brake system. check the sensors in the wheels, 1 of the plug-ins might be off or loose.
