  • Best/Affordable Commute route from Los Angeles to Pocatello?

Ok... this one's a toughie... I'm traveling from Los Angeles, CA to Pocatello, ID...

Originally planned to Drive up, 12hr min commute, 5 passengers in a 5 seater

-- If using personal car (gas fees $150-$250) economy size car ... ugh... sooo crowded...

-- Total cost for mini SUV - $700-$800 ($550 car rental and $150-$250 gas?)

    Greyhound - 21HR - 2 transfers $2000 total round trip (5 ppl)

    United Airlines/Delta = $500-$550/person total $2500 - $3000 round trip

Does anyone know of any other public commute systems that goes from Los Angeles to Idaho???

I couldn't figure out if the Metro Link goes that far, or if Amtrak is an option.

    Thank you!!

  • Is it legal for this car to be parked here... ?

There a car parked legally in front of my house, looks like a visitor of our neighbor since I've seen that car every so often. What annoys me is parking is already very limited on my street, and this car was parked her since the night before. Right now, they have both back tires removed, in the process of repair. The only rule I know of is "no car can be parked on any public parking spot for more than 72hrs consecutively" per LADOT.

    More info:

    1. Los Angeles area

    2. Residential parking

    3. NO prior reports have been filed, and the car has been parked there for over 20hrs at this time.

I just want my parking spot back you know! I know its a public parking spot and first come first serve, but this car is a visiting car... you know what I mean? and now it looks like it'll be there for a while because the tires are gone! No one has returned to that car so I don't know who it belongs too.. ugh this is irritating why did they have to choose the spot right in front of my house to do all this!!!

  • Who can I contact to report work abuse?

First: There is no HR Department here, read more:

What if the person committing the abuse is the owner of the company. I am currently employed at this family ran company comprised of about 30 employees. Mind you, this is an Asian family owned company, and me being Asian, men have strong wills. The owner of the company is the uncle and husband of 3 other managers here. The non-related Manger is Caucasian, and he is our "appointed HR manager" that does nothing HR but set up interviews after the agency finds someone.

The owner of the company has been known to be-little his employees, and this last week I just had enough! I heard him from all the way from 7 offices away yelling at one of my co-workers to the point where she cried and ran out the door. What can us employees do in a situation like this? None of the managers will stand up to the owner because he is superior in position in the company and at home!?

Why did the owner yell? Bare with my story:

The owner has a habit of asking tons of questions thinking that you will "remember" every single issue you work on even if they are 3 months past. He sent an e-mail asking for update on 3 different issues the week prior. On the same day, I replied and copied all parties stating one is complete, the other two was not assigned to me. But I did call CO-1 to confirm if issues were completed and was told "yes". The next day, right when I just clocked in, the owner approaches me and asks for the same status, and I repeated what I said on the e-mail. Than he went to CO-1 to inquire, she was unable to respond Instantaneously since she was dealing with several more critical issues, he was angry and started scolding "what do I pay you for, you always just have pending work, blah blah blah" She only gets $12/hr plus they put her on salary so her pay is capped out, she's been working her for over 7 years... HOW DEGRADING!!! and on top of her loyalty, she gets this shitty treatment. Not the first time BTW...

Anyway, my co was not wrong, it was CO-2 that was assigned the issue and she worked with one of the managers, the Owner's Niece.

All in all the problem escalated because CO-2 did not update the owner in time. Nevertheless, it is WRONG to publicly humiliate your employee.

Who do I report this to within the Los Angeles, CA district. There is nothing internal I can do, can I get them audited or something?

  • Why can't I just edit my Y!A questions?

So when you post a questions, why can't you edit the question later... Y!A forces you add additional details which show up seperately.. and than if you make a type-o you can't edit it, you have to post another additional detail... so irritating =S

I'm not superstitious or anything... but it's urban legend that Friday the 13th is a day prone to bad luck... Since I've been alive, I've only remembered having one Friday the 13th per year... but in 2009, we will have 3!!! Is there a significance to this??? hm.... just something to ponder about...

  • Chinese New Year prayers?

My question is who are these people we are praying too, what is their proper name in English???

I speak Teo Chew, my family has a traditional prayer on Chinese New Year Eve where before the clock strikes 5pm, all food must be on the prayer table to serve these 10 brothers. In my language, the literal English translation is "10 good brothers"...

I'm trying to research the history on these brothers, the only information I have are stories past down from my grandparents...

The only additional info I know is:

... they can only eat once a year... CNYE.

  • Why do we give a Thumbs up/down rating?

So yahoo answers let's anyone rate the comments/answers with thumbs up and thumbs down as you see fit... How do you rate the comments (ie. personal view/beliefs or by what makes more sense)

It ticks me off when I see an answer that sounds logical and unbiased but gets a thumbs down because someone has a bias opinion...

Ex. Poll Question: Do you like Starbucks or Coffee Bean better?

It won't matter which on you answer, if someone prefers the latter and you answers Starbucks, they'll rate you thumbs down...

Just thought it was interesting... what's your opinion?

  • Pimple looking bump in cornea?

I know... Go see an eye doctor... That's not the answer I'm looking for... I need to know if anyone might have a clue on what this is and how to fix it... I'm planning on seeing the eye-doctor so don't worry...

    My story....

So I had my contacts on all day and all night... over 24hrs... but not while sleeping... well it was irritating me the entire night, unfortunately I had no solution so I let it go on until I got home 24 hrs later....

When I woke up, my eye was bloodshot and hurting like crazy... I put in tears drops to moisturize it, so the red was gone, but than on one of my eyes, the cornea has a white dot in it... it almost looks like a pimple... Since that day, I haven't been able to wear my contacts due to the irritation...

It's been 5 days since, the white dot is still there, but my eyes are not hurting as much. I wore contacts to work for the first time in 5 days... went through half the day fine... than the pain I felt on Friday came back and now contacts are off again....

Anything you may know about this... plz advise.

  • HR can an employer under any reason not pay OT???

I just got this job, will be on probation for 90 days, TYPICAL... they told me in the beginning, no OT unless pre-approved. But does that mean they have the right to not pay you if you happen to go over like 15-30 mins? I need hard facts, if you have a site i can pull up the details on?

Example: If I work 10 mins less than 8 hrs, they will count my hours for the day as 7.90 hours. But if I worked 8.30 hours, they would count it as 8 hrs only.

I need to know if this is legal in california... i'm sure i might be, since this company's been here for years ...

  • Health cost per check up w/out insurance???

I need to go see the doctor, I'm over 18 but still young, I don't have any kind of insurance at the moment, and really need to see a doctor.

Does anyone know the cost to see a doctor and possible getting some tests done like x-rays or blood test....

Give me a price range I should be expecting, and if you can break down the cost per item like:

    Check up --- $$$

    X-ray --- $$$

    Blood Test --- $$$

    etc.

Even better, if you know a clinic that is geared toward helping low income families in the 90032/91801 zip code, please provide as well.

I really hope I can see a doc without exhausting my income!?!

  • Sound Driver Missing on AMD Sempron SiS 741...?

I recently reformatted my PC, unfortunately now my sound driver is missing. Went to ADM.com to find a compatible sound driver, but after downloading the drivers, it will not run because I don't have the correct applications... QUESTION: how or what application am I suppose to have in order to install the driver... OR, if anyone can offer a specific link to the correct sound driver I may need (with special instructions if any) that would be best since the AMD website was kind of confusing so I'm not even sure if I got the correct driver.

    PC: AMD Sempron 2200+

    Model: SiS-741

I have been without sound on my PC for over 5 months trying to resolve this, but haven't since. PLEASE can someone help me! THANKS!!!
