Is my cat really neutered??

How do you know for sure if you cat is actually neutered.. I mean the vet can just say "Yeah, we neutered him" but how do you really know...

My cat is supposedly neutered, but still very aggressive, constantly humping the blanket, and when he's done, there's actually a pretty damp spot!!! I mean... I thought getting them neutered is suppose to make them calmer and such...

Is this natural???

Update:

He does have balls... now that he's getting older, it's become more prominent for sure... but i thought there were ways to neuter pets without removing the part, (ie. tying tubes) When we picked him up at the vet, they specified we needed a box to carry him with to avoid infection in his genitals after the surgery... so what now?

Update 2:

A cat is neutered by removal of the testicles and ligation of the spermatic cord. If you want to know for yourself if he was neutered, grasp his scrotum in your fingers. If the scrotal sacs have hard lumps in them, he is not neutered. If they are soft, he is neutered. Some cats may have retained testicles in the abdomen, but your vet should've removed two testicles either way.

Aggression doesn't necessarily go away with neutering, neither do humping behaviors. The humping seems to be related to a need for attention. Unlike the suggestions given on the website below I wouldn't recommend giving the cat physical attention when he does this, but instead try to distract him with toys. Providing physical attention may only encourage him as he learns to use this behavior to get your attention.

if he no longer has balls, which will become quite prominent, he's neutered and simply needs distracted from doing the nasty. peacock feathers and laser light toys are great.
