Is this scary?

"It was nice to see my dad so relaxed in Meridian (Base). I don't think he ever is really as relaxed as he is around military people."

Meghan McCain (John's daughter)

Update:

It's the part that he is never as relaxed as he is around military people not that he was in the military. I totally respect that part.

Update 2:

Thanks for all your answers. It was a question not a judgement. I guess I see him as a bit awkward in non-military situations but all your points are well taken and no I am not anti-military or anti- American.

What's scary about that? He is an ex military man. A lot of our President's were ex-military men. Washington, Jackson, W H Harrison, Grant, B Harrison, Z Taylor, Hayes, Garfield, T Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Kennedy, are ones I can think of immediately.

Why do you think it would be scary? Think of the reason the military exists. It's there to protect you and your freedom. I think it's great that he has the respect of the military and understands what they do. This is unlike the other candidate who I am very reluctant to hand the keys of the country over to. He spent a few years as a POW and didn't crack. It wasn't the pacifists that freed him.

My husband is also ex military, and is very relaxed and enjoys being around other people from or still in the military, and believe me, he is not scary. You are always more relaxed around people that share your believes and have a lot in common.

McCain is honorably retired from the Military.

I see nothing scary about that at all.

Many of our past Presidents have been retired Military people.

I'm sure Obama did something honorable at some point in his life. I just can't seem to find it for some reason.

I'll pen a letter to Rev. Wright. I'm sure he knows of something Obama did that was honorable.

No not at all. The military is filled with some very fine people who care enough about their country to put their life on the line, I feel comfortable around them also.

I don't find it scary...do you? Of course the man is relaxed around military people, he knows what they are like, he was part of them and that leads to a comraderie that few civilians will ever know. He doesn't have to worry that one of them is going to treat him disrespectfully, he doesn't have to wonder what their underlying loyalty is. What do you find scary about someone being relaxed in his comfort zone?

No it's not scary, it's reassuring. The president will be commander in chief of the nations military. We need a president that has military experience and does not view the soldiers as criminals or threating.

That is how he should be, I am military retired and like it best when I am around buddies instead of anti military cowards
