trying to be green?

in an attempt to live a green life style i purchased a stainless steel water bottle, i really like it alot, but i have noticed recently a funny smell coming from the bottle, sort of swampy, earthy smell. is this from my water, the bottle, and if it's from the bottle, how do i get rid of it??

If you have not been washing, rinsing and drying the bottle out in between uses, then you might want to start with a good thorough cleaning with hot water, soap and some baking soda. Swish it around and let it soak for 15-20 minutes. Clean completely with a bottle brush, rinse turn upside down and let dry completely. When you are drinking out of it, some of the bacteria in your mouth or on your lips will make its way back into the bottle, without cleaning regularly, this bacteria will continue to infect each incoming amount of water put into it. So please, for your health's sake, clean the bottle completely regularly. And welcome to the world of being green!

Its best to not use harsh chemicals in your drinking bottle.

Use some vinegar and baking soda and a bottle brush to clean your bottle out, then let it dry completely before you fill it again.

Also it could be getting a build up of calcium inside. A rinse with CLR will take out any residue.

your bottle needs a thorough cleaning, as backwash contains bacteria that will grow and stink without a little help. Get a bottle brush ( available where baby stuff is sold at the grocery store) and use a little bleach. A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY. Rinse thoroughly!

try filling it with warm water and add a teaspoon of baking soda and leave it to soak. that should help rid the unpleasant odor. hope this helps!
