Will any vet do the OFA and CERF testing?

...or do I need to seek out a specific vet to do so.

With the OFA, your vet takes the radiographs and send them to be read by a panel of OFA certified vets who each give the hips a rating. They average that rating, and that is the rating your dog is assigned. Some vets are much better at taking properly positioned radiographs than others.

CERF has to be done by a CERF accepted veterinary opthmalogist. Many dog shows and matches offer CERF on show days and for a reasonable price.

The OFA testing is to check the hips your vet can do this, kinda. They will have to take an X Ray, get some of your dogs AKC (or another typ) info. They will then send it off to the OFA they will look at the X Ray and mail you the info latter.

To get the eyes tested you will have to see a different vet. Some vets have them come in every so offen. But your vet should be able to tell you where to go.

http://www.offa.org/faq.html Any licensed vet can take the radiographs for OFA testing. For CERF testing, it needs to be done by a member of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists http://www.vmdb.org/clinic.html Good luck!

Any vet can submit OFA radiographs as long as they have followed the AVMA guidelines for positioning.

CERF exams must be done by a veterinary opthalmalogist:

From that website you can look up clinics in your area. Dog clubs frequently do them, often in conjunction with shows, so check out the upcoming clinic page:

A good place to check out which vets are best for these in your area is to contact your breed club and ask a few breeders who they recommend.
