Is it possible to turn mercury into gold as many alchemists tried in medieval times?

    Well, as the clip points out, it is possible but not as the medieval alchemists tried. After all, they didn't have the knowledge or the equipment to do it.

    The basic elements of mercury can be found similar but not identical. Mercury is a metal that can turn into liquid, and so can gold, but gold needs to be heated longer. So technically, no.

    Alcemists are "magical people", or so they say, and in medival times, I don't think they had what we have today.

    There is a disputed method known as cold fusion by which it has been claimed that metals can be inter-converted. There are many records verifying such results but none scientific.

    of course it is possible theoretically, and it has been done. the problem is the minute amounts of gold compared to the large sums of money to produce it. it just isnt, uh, economically achievable??? but it has been done, not by alchemy ways, but modern
