I am going to attend school at Roswell Park and wanted to know the best part of Buffalo, NY to live in?

This is going to be a big move for me because I have lived in Texas for the last 18 years. A guy I met up there said I should live in Allentown which appearently is a part of downtown but it is hard to get information about it because no one knows this is the name of the neighborhood. My dad has a friend up there and he says I should live in Amhearst. Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions? I will be getting an apartment and commuting everyday to Roswell Park so please take that into consideration because I am sure I will hate driving in snow seeing how I have never done it living in Texas! Thanks for the Help

allentown is a a good neighborhood, especially recently---some "normal" people starting moving in and pushed some of the crackheads that allentown was known for away...allentown is basically part of elmwood village--thats the broader name of the neighborhood which most people use, thats why finding info on allentown is tough--i would actually recommend looking into elmwood village area--its basically the "cool/hip" neighborhood in buffalo..allentown is included in elmwood village but its on the border of the ghetto but still ok..search craigslist with key words:elmwood village, elmwood strip, elmwood ave, etc...any side street off of elmwood will be good

Amherst would be a very nice place to live-it is one of the safest cities in America http://realtytimes.com/rtpages/20020102_safety.htm

It has a lot of nice neighborhoods and developments. A few other choices would be Orchard Park, Williamsville, or Grand Island (Grand Island is about a 20 minute drive from Roswell Park)

Don't really matter where. It's all boring country.
