Man is separated from God because of sin. Fellowship was broken and the wages of sin is death. Man could not buy his way to righteousness through good works, deeds or rituals. The payment was death. But God provided a loophole, that a substitution could be made. This is where the sacrificial lamb became necessary. Your sins were passed onto the lamb, and the lamb took your payment for sin (in some cases a bull or a dove would suffice).
This was a foreshadow for He who was to come. For as Abraham said, "God will provide Himself the Lamb." This was also seen when John the Baptist pointed to Jesus and proclaimed "Behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world."
If we ask Jesus to be Lord and Savior, we are, in essence, passing our sins onto Him as our personal lamb. Our payment was paid in full on the cross. Which is why Jesus said "Tetelestai" or "paid in full" (commonly translated as "it is finished"). The payment due for sin was death, but Christ "payed it all" on the cross.
So, with sin paid in full, we now have access to the throne of God (the veil of the temple ripped open) wherein we can cry Abba, Father to the Almighty God. It is through Christ that our sins have been removed and thrown into the deepest ocean and as far as the East is from the West.
1 Cor. 15:1-4
I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you--unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.

Christ sacrifice wash, away mankind sins. In the Pass over which, is a reminder and a symbol, of Christ Sacrifice for all. in this same matter Christ became the perfect sacrifice .. I Philippians 2&6--8.. Paul tells us , that Christ left all behind to live and die for us, He who Had always been God by nature did not, cling to His priviliges as God , equal, but stripped Himself of every advantage , He lived a humble life to the point of death , and the death he died was the death of a common criminal. If ever there were, a time when the world needed to be reminded, of the terrible cost of sins, It is now. In the New - Testament the Gospel record, that Christ Keep the Passover, with His disciples, several times . On the Night before His death, Jesus knew He Was Fulfilling, the Symbolism of the Passover- LAMB in voluntarily giving His Life , for the sins of the entire world... Notice Luke 22:18---16, When the hour come, He sat down and the twelve Apostles with Him. Then He said, to them "With Ferver desirer I Have -Desired to eat, this Passover with you before I Suffer; For I Say to you, I Will No Longer eat, of it Until it is Fulfilled in the KINGDOM". Of GOD". Then He Instituted, the new symbol, that represented, not the Sacrifice of a Lamb , but His far greater sacrifice- The Passover symbols would nowrepresent Christ complete Sacriface , - The Unleavened Bread representing , His Sinless body , that was beaten for us, and a sip of wine, signifying the life--blood, He would Shed to Wash away our- Sins. Now this Feast took on a much greater meaning, to the Church, it reveal the true... Now the Disciples knew the Passover- Lamb was only , the physical fore runner of that perfect Sacrifice which was Jesus- Christ... Paul explain the Christ Passover, some 25 years after Christ, death , The Apostle Paul , ins, tructed the Corinthians -Congregation composed of believing Jews, and Gentiles alike-- about the Passover... Therefore purge out the old leaven, that maybe a new Lump , since you truly are unleavened, for indeed-Christ our Passover was sacrificed for us. 1 Corinthian 5 &7, ........... For the lord Jesus on the same night , that He was betrayed, passover night took bread, when He , Had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take eat, this is My Blood , which is broken for you , do this in remembrance of Me". In the same manner He also took the cup, after supper, saying this cup is the new covenant in my blood, this do as often as you drink it in remembrance of Me, for as aften as you eat, this bread , and drink this cup. you proclaim the Lord's death , till He comes.. 1 corinthians 11 &23---26..

The Old Testament clearly teaches that "without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sin...
Jesus replaced the Old Covenant sacrifical system with One Sacrifice, Himself, that is why John the Baptist said "behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the World!"
God told Abraham that He would provide a Lamb, so do not sacrifice Isaac.
Jesus is that Great Provision, the final sacrifice. Now, all we have to do is "believe" in Jesus and what He did for us, His righteousness is then tranferred to us by faith, Romans 5.1.
Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, and your whole house...He rose again on the third day, He is both Christ and God in the flesh, trust Him.

The washing away sins part, is because God the Father decreed that the blood of a sinless sacrifice was sufficient. The blood of animals would really only be sufficient for animal sins and since animals *don't* sin, we needed the blood of a perfect human. "But to be perfect he'd have to be God!" man cries. "Exactly, " says God, and comes down to do it Himself.
The awareness of the infinite treasure of the Blood and the awareness of our own unworthiness is what shows us our errors; that and holding our lives up to the mirror of the Word.

Christ's sacrifice can only wash away the sins of those who shall take refuge in Christ. Once you truly take refuge in Christ, you have a chance of redeeming yourself, although one still has to atone for their sins. This statement is more of symbolic significance rather than a literal translation, and all those who shall be initiated into Christ Consciouness shall understand its true meaning.

We all have sinned, but Jesus pleaded to the Father on our behalf, and with the shedding of His blood we were shown mercy, and given another chance.
In the beginning all it took was 1 sin, however small and we could not return to the kingdom. Jesus with His blood established a new covenant with us, that basically says, our good deeds can out weight or bad deeds, and we that have more good deeds than bad, will receive a reward based upon our level of goodness.
Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God, is the highest level,
Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called children of God is a very low level of reward.
Only Sons of God can share in the inheritance.
God the Father has already written His will and in it we are all to inherit a portion of the "Promised Land" but this inheritance depends upon our keeping our part of the covenant.

Can't agree with any of the typical nonsense above.
Look more deeply at the psychological symbolism which is ignored by Christian sects today.
It is the nature of the relationship between being and reality that we must transcend our "belief" in our sinfulness (the conditioned ego) to fully realize our passion and purpose - as Jesus, the Christ, did in his spiritual mission at the time.
Everyone is susceptible to believing in "unforgiveable" errors that hold us in an experience of reality that is hell. He was communicating a series of steps that have to be taken to experience resurrection of the authentic identity or Christ Self, which alone offers "abundant life" or "eternal aliveness/heaven."
There is so much more to his demonstration of giving up one's "defenses" and the power that is inherent in perfect defenselessness and disinterest.
Dig deeper.

Christ the saviour came to earth to save and sacrifice his life to the peoples of the world ..... he shed his blood in the cross ....
through his sacrifice only he crushed the head of Satan ...... so he made unpinned like a snake without the teeth......
if he didn't sacrifice then the Satan Will easily devour us in any simple way ...... in this means Jesus sacrifice washed away the sins of man.... i thing u didn't knew the mirror image of sin.....
for the commitment of Adam and eve sin..... who made that do u think eve alone is responsible for doing that sin. she didn't automatically went and eat away the fruit of knowledge ..... who explained the fruit that was too use full that gives the knowledge for Ur life and showed her like many merits are there in ht at fruit ...... so in and every sin the Satan's motivation and stimulation will be there ... you should ask God for that talent in you or open Ur eyes to know the difference of God way and evil spirits way ...... so finally my point is behind every sins the Satan is the main dealer..... so the Christ crushed the head of Satan ..... so we Got the victory over satan already now or hereafter we hav to face the defeated satan with the help of christ ...... if he is in full strength we cant defeat him ... so God made us easy way ...... in a match
if your oppenent team are too weak and with bad health condition ....then our surely wins right ...... thats the way God made us for us in the cross..... God already washed away the
sins of us totally we hav to ask him to pour Gods blood on you so that you ll be cleaned and renewed like eagle..... amen
