The movie "The Happening"?

I can't believe how bad this movie was. I wonder if it was meant to be funny and campy. Most of the time the audience was laughing. The "R" rating for "frightening & disturbing images" - sorry, I didn't see any of those.

What about Private Austin? "Oh Cheese & Crackers" - are you kidding me?

What could have been a truly frightening film certainly fell flat.

What does everyone think, who saw the movie?

I really don't know why it got the R rating, it wasn't scary, there wasn't really any blood & guts, no swearing, no sex, yes some of the images were disturbing, but nothing you couldn't see on TV. There was a lot of laughing going on in the theater I was in too. I liked the humor though. Loved when Elliott was talking to the fake tree. If you don't take it too seriously, it wasn't too bad, though I would have rather waited for the dollar theater than the 9 bucks I dropped on it.

I think the ironic and magical thing about this movie is the plethra of jokes that can be made about it based on its plot of mass-suicide.

For example, after I saw this movie tonight, I felt as though I had been exposed to 'the happening's deadly toxin because the I had an overwhelming desire to end my life...

Or headlines like 'the happening's toxin strikes studio execs after M Night's latest film manages to be his worst to date'

its going to be a silver lining to the sad film that was the last one of M Nights that I will ever watch again...

    Think of the plus side!!!

    Goblin,

The occasional humor from Wahlberg kept me from actually just walking out. His wife was one of those women that are so uptight they squeak and putting up with her through the entire movie was painful.

I can't understand where this Shylaman dude keeps finding people that will fund his attempts to be a successful director.

I actually thought it was interesting. It makes you wonder what might happen to the world if we keep up with our global warming and such. The movie made me realize two really important factors -

tabacco plants are hella tight for having that gas come out of them to attract wasps

&&without bees we could only last for 4 years.

the ending was really horrible. but i just liked it because it was a natural disaster that COULD possibly happen. It seemed scientific enough.

I just saw it a few minutes ago and i think it sucks, wasn't scary, wasn't making any sense. How can you kill yourself while controling the weapon to kill yourself?

I think this was the worst movie of his.
