Do you view your faith as that of a mustard seed?

Or has it grown? If so, to what do you attribute that growth?

Update:

Jesus gave the chastisement "Oh you of little faith" to some who already believed in God. In his example of the mustard seed he explained how the seed sprouts into a shrub that shelters the birds. I am interested in finding out how many believe their faith has grown and have put away the imagining of their faith as being small. This goes hand in hand, I believe, with the parable of the condition of the ground upon which seeds are sown.

I pruned it by logic to such a level that the tree died.

Eg. I now know a mustard see isn't the world's smallest seed, even though the bible says so.

My faith doesn't encourage me to approach faith like a little child, which is directly contradictory to Jesus' teaching. My faith encourages cynicism to filter out false teachings, and there are a lot.

The faith of a Mustard seed is the faith to grow. I am LDS and we believe in eternal progression. Line upon line, precept on precept, grace upon grace, we grow until we become the pleasant plant that God would have us be, and then we keep growing and expanding, in glory and in honor. As we are made in his likeness, it is not amiss for us to hope that one day we can be like him. If we are a seed, then he is the tree, from which the seed came.

  • Indeed, what is an acorn, a mustard seed, or cutting but the root of greatness in our hands. Left untended, unwatered and unsunned it withers, hardens and becomes infertile.

Nurtured with love, faith and trust it grows into a great colossus from which we gain shade, sustenance and comfort. The creator and his created. The seeds of love grow abundantly with love. The deeds of discontent as weeds strangle the delicate seedlings expose to the elements whilst man struggles with our duties and obligation in his world. The God with a tree of wisdom fearful of accusations of nepotism from mob loses both his tree and regard of the people he seeks to appease.

The seed requires minimal attentions to its needs and gives unstintingly and without want when matured. As a child. Personal responsibility is attributable generally in the lives of most. Man as the creator of his own good fortune or lack of it.

My faith is like a Mustard seed, except, that was almost 20 years ago, and it has grown.

I have a wife and 2 children now, by the grace of God.

If they are my 'birds' then I am completed.

I have more faith in the mustard seed growing so the mustard it produces tastes great on my hamburger

I try to live without faith, and base my actions on fact and rationality. Faith is, as Mark Twain said, believing in things you know 'aint so', and is a very dangerous basis for morality.

I don't care if you lick windows, take the special bus or occasionally pee on yourself. You hang in there sunshine, you're frigging special.

WTF comparing faith to mustard? God would be offended. Word on the street is that he hates mustard, but loves fry sauce.

Sometimes it's even smaller, but God is still amazing, and his love mind blowing.
