this so-called tomato epidemic?
I am wondering if anyone else finds this tomato scare hard to believe. Where are the intellectuals on this subject? The FDA's explaination about how the salmonella enters the tomato is very hard to swallow. 23 people go to the hospital and this is a nationwide epidemic? The FDA also claims that people are having a hard time remembering what exactly they had eaten, then how do they even know it involves tomatos? Why do they not want us to eat tomatos?? Anyone??
I can watch the TV just like you and I hear about the "salmonella stuff". I am looking for educated information. not opinions from people who believe everything that they are told.

What is hard to understand? They tested the tomatoes and salmonella is present. 23 did end up in the hospital but 100's of others are sick from them.
Washing them does not get rid of salmonella. Eat them if you want but you were warned ;-) It might be easier to eat the ones that are not affected. I doubt there is any tomato conspriacy going on...

I grow my own tomatoes in my garden. I hate several straight off the vine this morning, as I do every morning and I feel great.

Why do YOU think "they" (whoever THEY are) don't want us to eat tomatoes? If not to reduce the risk to human lives, why do "they" want to destroy all of these tomatoes and the tomato-farmers crop for the season? Seriously! And it's "tomatoes", not "tomatos".

I feel the reason is because of all the toxins used to fertilize and do pest control , on these plants.I do all my gardening organically , including pest control, and I always rinse thoroughly before eating

Just a bunch of bull. People should know they have to wash everything before eating. All produce should be washed....
If common sense ruled, there would be no problem.

because the salmonella stuff is affecting tomatoes right now, and they don't know which tomatoes are affected or not affected. so if you don't know which ones are safe.. then why risk eating them.
