There have always been those who were opposed to war, however they were very few. There were a great many men and women who stood in long lines to sign up and help protect this country. Those who,for one reason or another, were unable to join the armed forces, worked behind the scenes at home The women took over and helped build aircraft and anything else that was needed. The men who were unable to join the service, did whatever was necessary to insure that those who served had a country to come home to.

After Pearl Harbor, if there were any who still opposed the war, no one ever heard from them. I think that was a wake up call for them and they realized they could become victims of the war.

Most of the folks on this thread have it right. There were a large amount of anti-war protesters in World War I, but "peace freaks" and protesters during World War II were on the periphery.

There probably were some, but FDR censured the press, so there's no way they would've gotten any coverage. Without press coverage, protesters in Oregon wouldn't know there were also protesters in California. So, they just go back into hiding. The problem today is that the press inflates anti-war & anti-American sentiment. When the Iraq War started, the press covered an anti-war rally with 100 people in Washington DC and ignored a rally supporting the troops (that had 4,000 people in it) some place else.

It is the press that emboldens the vocal minority and collegiate elite these days.

And to correct a statement, yes, there were pro-Nazi supporters in the United States up until war was declared. We were neutral until Pearl Harbor and no one knew, at the time, that the Nazi's were doing the heinous things that they did (they had a very good propaganda machine, like Al Jazeera does now for the militant Arabs). There were many Americans of German descent who believed the Nazi part had restored German pride and would be a geart ally to have against the newly emerging Communists in the East.

Not many if any. I agree because they did not have the means of communications we have today. Even so in those days Americans were proud to be Americans. Our Country in our eyes was The Beautiful! Everyone including the women had to work at the bases and or keep up with the ranch or farm because their husbands were off fighting for our freedom. I know the word traitor back then was pretty much a death sentence as it should be today.

It totally galls me when I hear media, politicians,Hollywood etc. say how bad, selfish etc we are. They are not proud of America. We are spoiled. It infuriates me of the lack of Love they have for where they live and the people that Died for them to say those things which are based on the popularity of bashing America. All those Protesters need to get the He** out if they do not like it here.

Will being a youngster during the war, and Living on then

the Pine Ridge reservation. Our community was very much

involved in the war effort. My Father was in Germany at

that time. We supported our people and the Nation as

much as we could. I can't remember anyone from the

Nation ever being derogatory about our effort in the WW2.

We had 150 Men from our Reservation in the fight.

I would listen to the radio in the main bldg at night, and

we would wait for the news to come., everyone was

concerned. We never heard any reports of non support

    from around the country.

I was really happy to see that war end and most of our

    members returned home.

Yes, socialism has been trying to get into this country for years and is here for sure now. Read some Michael Savage books about it. Man, it will make you mad because you are a decent good American who loves this country as I do. There were protesters trying to tell Jesus he was wrong for standing for conservatives ways. Has always been and will continue till Yeshua (Jesus ) comes back to rule the earth. Man, that will be a relief.

There were few if any anti-war or anti american protesters during WW2. We wouldn't have tolerated them.

Today it has become fashionable to think of yourself and your own convenience only. There is a whole segment of our population which as no love for this country. They are stupid even though they have college educaitons.

They really think that they are free because they went to college and do not give a thought or a damn about the many loyal Americans who paid the ultimate price to make these creeps free.

Steve Decatur once said: " My country, may she always be right, but, right or wrong - MY COUNTRY>"

The sophisticates and elitists who think otherwise can go straight to hell- if the devil would have them.

Yeah. There were. But not many, and those that were around vanished after Pearl Harbor.

Any that remained were at real risk of being stomped to dust by the rest of America. They went away until the mid 60's.

It like a bad rash. They just keep coming back.

I do not believe there were antiamerican, antiwar protestors back then. As far as I am concerned, if you say you are against the war, you are saying you are against the military and what they are doing. You cant say you are against the war but support the soliders. If you support the soliders, you respect what they do. If you are against the war, you are against the military. You cant have it both ways.
