If the ceremony is 10 mins max, I wouldn't have a problem standing. Any longer than that, and you should provide chairs for everyone. You will need chairs regardless if you have any elderly or disabled guests.

I would say sit. Chances are you're going to need some chairs for elderly anyway. And shade is a biggie. I wanted a beach wedding but it was going to be a bit of hassle with some of the elderly not too mobile and also they wouldn't have wanted to take their shoes off and just end up with sand in them :S

i'm having a beach wedding too and at first i wanted everyone to stand and then we would go the the reception but my husband to be said that he could not ask people to stand up that it would not look right so now we are going to have chairs and good thing that we have a friend with chairs because all that gets very expensive. But now we have to look in to chair covers and bows that type of thing. It is a hassel but it looks better. :) good luck i would go with chairs i'm putting my brother and the groomsman in charge of the setting up and that type of thing..

I would always say you should have seats. Only have people stand if it is a very short ceremony (and remeber they will be arriving a bit before the ceremony and you may start late) and if no one has any health problems that may make it tough to stand. I still think its good to go ahead and get the chairs in case someone hurts themselves or wouldn't speak up about being uncomfortable.

THE BEACH IS THE DECORATION! Anything man made will look really out of place. If what you're really trying to do is create ambiance, try picking a particular beach (Hawai'i Jamaica, Azores, Sicily, Greece....etc.) and a particular time of day and season. Spring Sunrises are some of the best on beaches. Mid summer sunsets are breathtaking on the beach. Late summer and early fall is wonderful for that bright blue ocean scene during the day. Use what God gives you! (great metaphor for marriage!)

I would only have standing if there were fewer guests than the number of people at the altar and you were planning to keep it incredibly short--it's a very intimate thing to do. With 30 people, chairs are a must.

I say sit. It gives a sense of an occasion, that an event happening, rather than people just standing around. Once everyone is seated, the ceremony can begin.

Only for a brief ceremony should you expect guests to stand! Anything more than 10 mins., supply folding chairs.

I've been to two beach weddings - and we always stood. The ceremonies were short and sweet and we were all barefoot - so it was cool.
However, for the receptions, which were both at differnent locations, the shoes went back on and we had places to sit.
Beautiful choice for a wedding location - I hope the weather co-operates for you.....congrats on getting married too!!!

Sit and some shade - I can't stand for long periods of time and need shade for health issues.
I'd provide some standing room for those able and chairs for those who need to sit and tents for shade for everybody.
