Is any other lady here a member of the Red Hat Society?

I have been a member since 2003, having my own chapter (I'm the Queen Mum) since 2006. We are 25 in my chapter, 15 active. We have so much fun, doing lots together. If you are a Red Hatter, what is your Chapter name? Or if not, do you know any?

Update:

I have the books, the magazines, lots of purple and red! We DO have great times together. This all started in 1998, when Sue Ellen Cooper bought a vintage Red Hat for a friend turning 50. She loved it, so next friend turning 50 got one and they went to lunch with their red hats. Then they decided to wear purple like the poem by Jenny, and the rest is history!! We just celebrated our 10 year anniversary. There were conventions all over the USA and abroad. Ours lasted 2 whole days and just happened to be barely 45 minutes away so it was convenient! We had so much fun!

Do I know any...for more than 20 years I've had the pleasure of conversing with the 'Red Hatters' on various occasions and in different locations.

There are chapters across the United States... and it is delightful to see the pleasant ladys dressed in "purple with a red hat "; the pink hats and lavender attire means the person is under the age of 50... but wants to share in the'joy and wonder' with the Red Hatters (3 Rules of the Red Hat Society).

The Book: Hope you have checked out the poem and the short literary piece also. It is available in book form or cassette. "When I Am An Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple With A Red Hat' by Sandra Martz.

"Queen Mum" : HAVE FUN and please know that your zeal creates a smile in the hearts of others...

I never really understood the red hat thing but it looks fun. I have a really little corner shop down the street from where i live its a red had store and also a cafe. its so cute to see all the ladies get together and come out of the store all dressed up, they look to be having lots of fun =)

  • Bonjour Nette! technically, I am not yet old enough to be a member...... but I LOVE hats and wear them almost daily in the summer! (Because they don't let us wear hats when teaching during the school year) Anyway, I love how many times older ladies will come up to me and comment on my hat. Always positive and usually how they miss hats. I'm not old, but I am eccentric so I wear my hats in spite of current cultural trends. I;m wearing one today actually, at a conference I'm attending at the local university. :)

NO, I am not. I volunteer at the Salvation Army Thrift Store twice a week, and last week an entire Red Hat Society club came in to shop.........must have been a bunch of them.....they looked so CUTE!
