Anyone being seen by a mid-wife and not a doctor?
I'm roughly 5-6 months pregnant and have not been seen by a doctor but I have been seeing a midwife... I plan on going out of the country soon to help some family out but I'm worried about giving birth there in the Philippines... I know there are private clinics with midwives there... has anyone gone through their whole pregnancy just being seen by a mid-wife?

My OBGYN offers a midwifery service as well as normal doctors. For my first and second pregnancies I had a midwife. There was nothing really different between a midwife and a normal doctor. The midwife, however, could not deliver my baby (army rules - army hospital).
Recently my midwife has retired, and I am now using a normal doctor. I tried to get another midwife, however, my OBGYN is doing a lot of outsourcing right now and to get onto the midwifery team is a lot of work. I opted for not having that added stress in my life, and went with a normal doctor instead. He will be delivering my baby.

With my daughter I saw a midwife. With my son, I had a doctor. The midwife was great! She heardly left my side. The doctor was coming and going. Im pregnant with my 3rd baby and I plan to get another midwife. My midwife delievered my daughter. I also had some student doctors in the room also and they held my legs up for me and fed me ice chips...My husband was too busy watchin the baby come out..... But midwives are great!!! Better than doctors if you ask me...

Ya my 1st whole pregnancy i saw a midwife, and this pregnancy i'm doing the same thing. The place where i go have both docs and midwifes and you choose who you want to see. Midwife also delivered my son, and hopefully this baby too, unless of course my placenta doesn't move(placenta previa) then i would have to get a c-section, which is done by the doctor.
