christians: if you could save the souls of every single person who existed or will exist by selling yours....?
to the devil would you?
remember, this is the souls of trillions. would you give up yours and sell your soul to save the rest of humanity's?
if not then justify how you are not a coward.
just to note: see thats why atheists can't answer this question- because we don't believe in god so its like asking "would you kill your mom for 1 million dollars with NO chance of bieng caught by cops or having any religious complications, god signed off on the deal"
it ain't gonna happen. so we can't really answer something truthfully based on a belief system- the closest we can come is would you die for others- but thats not as extreme as thier beliefs- which is why i directed it to christians.
james- my answer is meaningless because I'm an athiest and couldn't answer truthfully. I can say "if i believed I would do that" but I don't so the weight of the decision to do so is not as high with me- but I would in fact do so-
well, with some stipulations that I can chose not to save certain people's souls who I want to see tormented. misery loves company, why shouldn't I have some?
also- to add depth to this-
christians, keep in mind that JESUS did save those who were not of the same religion- so your own belief system has this- saying "no because they are non-believers" doesn't fly. if jesus did it why shouldn't you?

This ain't gonna happen, either. It's not possible. Moses and Paul already pleaded to give their lives.
Someone did give His life for all humanity. Why humanity wouldn't take Him up on the deal is beyond me.
If He can't save you, you have no hope in me. I don't begin to understand the love that drove Him.
I'm not a coward, just selfish. I have three babies I never got to meet in this life. I don't love you or anyone else enough to miss out on meeting them.

Nope and it's a ridiculous question and very unrealistic. There have been many evil and bad willed people who aren't worth saving. Hitler, Stalin, Attila The Hun, etc as well as various rapists, murderers, criminals, abusers, pedophiles, etc. But for sure all people who have lived and will live can only be justified by their sin to God as their savior. There is one man that fits the exact bill you are talking about. He actually took the sins of every person in eternity past and present upon himself to allow every person to be saved if they want (no matter how evil their actions). However, it does take repentance (a regret for what they did and turning away of their deeds). Jesus Christ is the one who did this and it was agony for him plus the humiliation and burden of the cross and giving up His life. But even this sacrifice requires a person to ACCEPT the gift of forgiveness and reconciliation. No regular human has any justification to ever forgive sins, save souls, or any right to do what only God can do. The very idea is ridiculous and not justice! It would be like some man sacrificing his life and his soul so all the criminals of the world get a pardon and go free to start a new life. This is not happening!

Well, for a start, I am not God.
If we hadn't had The Flood, there would certainly be trillions of people on the earth by now.
Second part of the question is that we don't own our souls. so we can't sell them.
We give our allegiance either to God or satan depending on who we live for.
If we are Christians, our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit because born again Christians invite Jesus to come into their hearts, so their soul belongs to God.
God says that if you aren't for Him you are against Him so for the rest of them, they must worship the other one because there are only two choices.
As for you, the asker, you act as if you are a coward yourself trying to put the blame for all your imaginary theories onto people you dislike,

So, if i don't sell my soul I'm a coward, but if i do sell my soul I'll feel the most terrible pain and suffer untold for the end of all time. Just to save a few trillion insignificant human beings who wouldn't give me the time of day or spit on me if i was on fire?
Nice to meet you, hope you guessed my name! ~ : )

I've thought about this before. For example, if you had to get 'the mark' during tribulation so that other Christians could live and pass on the good news. I'm not sure what I would do, that's a tough thing to answer. My soul isn't really mine to give anyways....hmmm..

Salvation must be a matter of personal choice.
God will not force himself on anyone.
Jesus has already paid the price for our sin in full.
He gave up his place in heaven to become a weak, frail human to do this for us. So (in essence) this has already been done. He took the penalty for our sin on himself.
But this does not mean everyone is automatically saved.
The next step is up to us, to accept it and live it.
The choice must be ours.
But the point is: Jesus has already paid the price, and made
forgiveness available to all who will accept it and live by it.
No other sacrifice is worthy enough (or needed).
God knocks at the door of all our hearts, patiently waiting
for us to invite him inside. But it's up to us to extend that
invitation, and really mean it.

Ooh, nice. Of course, answers to hypothetical questions are easy, because you'll never have to go through with whatever you say you will, but it will be interesting to see what people say.
I will have more respect for those who truthfully answer that they wouldn't do this. Most people wouldn't give up cable TV to save someone else's soul, never mind give up eternal life.

No. No human can save another, only Jesus can.
And no, I'm not a coward, I'm a born-again Christian. That takes a lot of courage, especially on these boards because Christians get mocked all day long here.

If there was a purpose in my having to die - NOT sell my soul -in order for people to go to heaven, I would possibly do so. Since Jesus Christ has already done exactly that...........your question is pretty pointless. He was/is the sinless, Son of God..........He has paid for the sins of mankind............there is no reason to 'pose' hypothetical questions concerning salvation...............

I don't normally answer just to say "interesting question" but, well... interesting question.

Well, at least they're honest. Honestly, I'd like to say I would be willing to face eternal torture to save others, which is basically what you're asking them, but I can't really fathom "eternal." I would allow myself to be tortured for so many others, definitely, but only if I knew eventually I'd have relief in death-- morbid as that sounds-- but eternally? I don't know... I don't think I could.
