The Democrats have had control of the Congress for the last two years. They promised us CHANGE. So far their efforts are a big fat ZERO!

They have no energy plan. They only try to twist and blame everything on the current republican administration.

I am tired of our Congress getting fat off people like me. They get free health insurance paid by me and get an automatic pension for life.

I would think that it would be better to nationalize essential institutions, such as gas companies and electricity companies---because that's where we hurt the most----the cost of oil is driven up by supply-demand and investors, so I would say regulate and tighten those speculator's activities to the point where there is a limit on how much oil they can trade per day and then nationalize essential companies like gas and electricity companies because that's what we depend on: heat and air conditioning, and with wages and social security checks not going up at the same rate as those fuel/energy prices(which drive up the cost of everything else)I would think that prices could at least be stabilized if not dropped down somewhat. The limit for oil production per day is 95 million barrels a day and I think that with 77 million barrels per day and rising demand from other countries like China and India we will reach the limit of oil production very soon and with that prices are unlikely to go down. The seller will sell to those who pay the demanded price first--and whatever is left will go to us--if any.

    Oh LORDY! These Barack minions actually think it would be a good idea;

then they get mad and wonder why I try (unsuccessfully I might add) to point out it is simple economics that their messiah, Barack, economically speaking only, believes communism is a great economic system and loathes capitalism

    go figure?

Get a clue Barack supporters, your man DOES believe in communist economic principles. This isn't an insult, he isn't a bad man for it I am sure, it just makes him wrong as this would obviously be a horrible economic plan....either to the posters question or a Barack win.

Maxine Watters accidentally spilled the beans in one of the hearings that she wants to nationalize the oil industry.

Essentially she wants to steal the assets of the oil industry.

    That is a stupid idea.

It is our Federal Government itself that has placed huge tracts of land off limits to development and oil drilling.

If the Federal Government had not palced those huge tracts of land off limits we would not have the sever shortages and extreme price increases that we have had.

these restrictions could be removed with an executive order from the President of the United States of America.

I recommend an executive order that removes the restrictions on oil drilling on land owned by the Federal Government.

for those who think that there is not enough competition in the oil industry, I would support a plan for the Federal Government to form a corporation ownrd by the Fedeal Government to drill for oil on Federal land and build refineries for that oil.

the oil, and gasoline and diesel fuel and other petroleum distillates would be sold to the public at cost in competition with the oil companies.

that would be a way to keep the oil companies honest without stealing their assets.

Consumers would have the option to buy gasoline and diesel fuel at government owned filling stations rather than fo to the commercial stations.

that would prevent the oil companies from raising their prices to obscene levels because of the competition from the government filling stations.

This is waht Franklin Delano Roosevelt did in the 1930's when there was orice gouging by the electric utilities.

Franklin Delano Roosevet started a government corporation to produce electricity and sell that electricity at cost i competition with the electric utilities.

The result was that the elctric utilities were forced to reduce their prices to compete with the supply of electricity from the Federal Government.

We could do the same with the Federally owned land. the government can start producing oil and gasoline and sell it in competition with the commercial oil companies.

You will see a dramatic decrease in the price of gasoline and diesel fuel if the government does that.

Source(s): My experience. Over 40 years of Democratic Politics. Also my grandfather served in the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Administration and was one of the Architects of the New Deal. Hillary Clinton in 2012 if not 2008. If Barack Obama is given the Democratic nomination, then John mcCain in 2008.

Got proof? As it stands our oil refineries only run at a less than 70% capacity. It is manipulated and controlled by the oil industry to keep gas artificially high in this country so the oil corporations can make huge record making profits off our need and dependence on them. Much like Enron did with California. Gues What? It's working. I'd rather be paying that profit back into my government every time I filled up so our crappy roads can be fixed, our public transportation can be improved and upgraded and so we can solve the problem of our oil dependence in the first place. Actually, come to think of it, what you said would be a great idea. But unfortunately the Dems aren't going to do it ever.

What a horrible thought. Lower prices for Americans while those poor CEO's won't be able to milk the cow any longer. Just a horrible idea.

There is no such plan by the way.

Regulating gas prices is not the same as nationalizing, especially when the prices may be manipulated by speculators.

There is no such plan. Calling it something does not make it true.

I would rather have the government control the energy industry providing services to all the people. If the government is accountable to the American people it provides services for the collective good, and energy is a collective good, this is the definition of liberal democracy. No clear headed person wants evil greedy corporations controlling energy, it is just that people are brainwashed by the corporate controlled media.
