Please help! Does anyone have any advice on how to get a toddler to poo on the toilet?

Hi all, my son is 2 yrs and 9 months old and is potty trained for wees during the day (still wears a nappy for nap time and overnight though).

The problem is, he REFUSES to poo in the toilet, instead saving it until the afternoon nap when I put his nappy on.I have heard that you should never force a child on to the toilet so I have just been coaxing gently, not yelling or getting angry, but we are not getting anywhere. He has been trained for months and i'm getting so sick of being stuck in a rut with poos!

I have brought him a special toy and told him he will get a surprise present when he is a big boy and goes on the toilet for poos, but to no avail.

I know this is fairly common for toddlers especially with boys, but does anyone have any advice for me? Or even stories of if their toddlers went through the same thing and how they came out of it?

Thank you so much in advance xx

Mine did and this is what we did and it worked to my surprise and everyone elses. We have done this with 2 of our children now one boy and one girl. We told them that we could not go to the park, pool etc... until they did all their buisness on the toliet because they may have an accident while we were out. Also, we told them no pull up because you are to old and a big kid now. I dont know why but kids seem more afraid to poo then pee on the toliet.

We had the same issue with our son, but he was a "late bloomer" for being toilet trained. He is four now and he just became completely trained during the day. He refused to poop on the toilet, said it was too hard, we tried offering to buy him a special toy if he did, nothing worked. Then one day he just had a tiny poop and we celebrated hehehe and since then he has begun to go poop on the toilet. We have had one accident, so doing good.

I am sure he will do it, it's all new to him.

Frankly, I took my daughter to the bathroom with me, every time I had to go. Her potty chair was across from the toilet. We had chats, she got trained, the cat came with us and she got trained, as well.

my daughter has the same problem...she says she is scared to poop in the potty. Id like to hear some answers to this question. I know it's pretty common though.
