GNR's Appetite For Destruction or Nirvana's Nevermind?

GNR, one of the best bands of the late 80s. Nirvana is the 90s. Two of the greatest bands ever, topping charts and breaking sound barriers. Two of the greatest albums ever. Ever.

Appetite for Destruction or Nevermind? Why?

Bonus Qs

Smells Like Teen Spirit or Sweet Child O Mine

Axl Rose or Kurt Cobain

I'm a fan of both bands:

In this case, it mostly depends on your taste of music. I "personally" prefer Appetite for Destruction because each song on that album had a certain quality to it (not just the big hits i.e., Sweet Child of Mine, Paradise City, and Welcome to the Jungle but ALL their songs was either as good or better). Appetite is just a timeless album that never gets old or sounds dated. No matter what time period we're living in, this album just sounds dangerous, dirty, heavy and gritty.

I also like Nirvana's Nevermind but I "personally" think that In Utero was their best work. Anyways, Nevermind is a great album that revolutionized the music industry but I feel that some of the songs are being overplayed. I can't keep listening to Nevermind as much as I can listen to Appetite, but that's just my taste.

    Bonus questions:

Sweet Child o' Mine, it's just a beautiful song and it still doesn't lose it's edge or grit.

Kurt Cobain, as much as I like GN'R, Axl is a prick and a prim ma Donna who became crazy over the years. While people could relate to Kurt, he was more down-to-earth and realistic than a egomatic over-the-top rock star. R.I.P. Kurt.

Ok this is gonna be close and I'm gonna go both ways ont he question.

I would take Appetite for Destruction over Nevermind. i think appetite 4 destruction ahs just too many AMAZING songs on it...and i;'m not just talking about the famous ones like Nightrain, sweet Child O' mine, welcome 2 the jungle, or paradise city. Thye have great supporting songs like Out ta get me and It's so easy...they mix so much stuff up in Mr. Brownstone

Even though i think GNR's album is overall better, I think Smells like Teen Spirit over Sweet Child O Mine because I personally don't think the latter is GNR's best song on the album, contrary tio popular opinion. Nightrain and Welcome 2 the jungle is over them in my per rankings. I would also take kurt over Axl becuz even tho i love axyl i think GNR's guitar puts them over Nirvana not the singing

    Good question.

This is a close one, just because both albums are so good and different, but I'm gonna go with Nevermind.

Bonus: I've never liked Smells Like Teen Spirit- it's far too overplayed (but I love pretty much everything else by Nirvana.)

    Kurt Cobain definitely.

Appetite for Destruction. Nevermind nevermind. Not even on the same scale. I've never understood grunge. Okay, I understand the breaking sound barriers. But I think Appetite for Destruction has greater staying power and longevity.

Sweet Child O Mine. All around better musically. Slash's best work.

Axl. I don't like either. But at least Axl hasn't pussied out and blown his head off after all the sh*t GnR has gone through over the years.

    Yeah. I said it.

I'm gonna go with Nevermind, it had more of an impact on the music scene at the time. I once like both Teen Spirit & Sweet Child, but both got overplayed to death on the radio and MTV (when they still played music).

i think they are difficult to compare because of the differences in sound, but as much as i like appetite i would take nevermind any day of the week and twice on sunday...appetite is totally driven by the strength and popularity of welcome to the jungle, sweet child, and paradise city, even though there are other good tunes such as mr. brownstone, while the first six songs on nevermind may be the best collection of songs ever grouped together consecutively on any album...with teen spirit, in bloom, come as you are, breed, lithium, and polly(in that order, if i'm not mistaken) taking charge of that album, it's impossible to turn off the rest of the way

    bonus:

smells like teen spirit, the song just has so much edge and really defines nirvana as a band...sweet child is a great song but is really just defined by slash's solo

and kurt cobain kicks axl's *** any day, he was a brilliant songwriter and one of the masters are eliciting emotions from his listeners...axl is an overblown headcase who can't sing a lick

  • Appetite

actually real music all the way through

    Sweet Child of Mine

Great song. Teen Spirit Ok.. SCoM way better.

    Axl or Kurt?

Tough one. Singing wise Axl hands down. Personality wise, Cobain.

I'm gonna say Appetite For Destruction.

This is such a hard freaking question man...

I'll say Nevermind, simply because there is not one song on that album that grows "old" to me. GNR tends to do that with me sometimes, but very rarely.

Another tough one... Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Axl Rose... everyone seems to hate the guy's voice... That's where I'm in the minority. His voice is awesome to me haha.
