Anyone else have a clear pattern to their depression?
I was diagnosed with depression 4 years ago. Some days are better than others, things have been getting progressively worse again over the past 6 months or so. But there seems to be a clear pattern, that my worst days are at the end of the week, Thursday evening through to Monday morning - I can function reasonably OK in the early part of the week, but by the time it gets to Thursday I can't be bothered with anything, I can't concentrate and I feel really low and tearful for no reason. Right now I just feel terrible, and it seems to be happening more and more often. I'm already on a maximum dose of medication. Does anyone have any theory as to why there is such a clear pattern? And does anyone else have similar experience?

my theory, and this is just my theory.
Depression becomes more and more like a habit.. over and over again the same thing until the body gets used to it. The catch 22, it keeps doing it because that is what it knows. It's like smoking really, (which I do) over time you just can't be without it. It's what you think of, need, crave, want, all that fun stuff. It becomes so normal, that we end not being able to live correctly without it... we need it so bad that it actually becomes the first and then the only thing we think about.
Similar experience... used to. used to have depression over really weird things.... still find my emotions getting out of check every now and then, but I said screw it.. My life is not controlled by stuff I cannot seriously control. No more. A serious decision and it worked. I still get depressed every now and then, but I come out of it because I just don't want to be there. (Not saying anyone can do it, that is what worked for me) I tell you though, when i was on paxil.. *Shivers* I was more worse off because I had no real clue what was going on in my life, it was just a wonderful little pill that made everything happy.. even if it wasn't. I enjoy all my emotions, and not being in control of them.. well that begins to lead to something else entirely.
Good luck and hope you get the answer you were looking for.

Some times a diagnosis in't the correct one.
I was diagnoised with depression when actually I was having mini strokes in my brain.
You have identified your pattern. Now write every thing down that affects your life at those times. You might have some sort of chemical reaction to where you are spending time during your worse episodes.
You might have an allergy or a slight lack of oxygen and so on.
Write it all down and see if there are triggers to your bad days.
If you have deprression the pattern might be triggering your worse days. Some people react to florresent lights or paint or asbestis and so on.
You need to be your own dectitive then talk to your doctor about it.

It sounds like your meds arnt really helping.
try changing to a diff one.
some ppl have to try quite a few before they find the right one for them.
as for the pattern... could it be due to stressful situations you are in each week? such as a build up during the week during school/work. then a relaxing weekend helps you recover so you feel better at the start of the week?
