I got the cartilage on my ear pierced.. Infection? Please help!?
I went to bed one night and my ear was swollen, I woke up in the middle of the night because I had been laying on that ear. When I woke up the next morning, I could feel the back of my earring, but I couldn't see the front at all. I cleaned it with the stuff they gave me, and when I did, a scab came off of it. When the scab came off, I could see a tiny bit of gold. When I moved the back of the earring, the ball pushed out a little. Later that day I was able to push the ball out most of the way, but it was still embedded in my ear. When I pulled the earring out, my ear was purple and there was a huge whole from where the earring had been in my ear.
I've always had very sensitive ears, and if I wear anything less than 14K gold, my ears get infected, but the earrings I wore were 24K gold so I didn't think I had anything to worry about!
Can you please tell me what happened, and should I worry about it happening with the other ear? Would it be okay to get that ear pierced again?

Ok so I had this SAME problem. I had my cartilage pierced twice at the same time actually.. I had them in for like a year and I swear they never healed. Best advice I have, take the earing out and let it heal. Then go back and have them pierce it like they would your tounge or nose, where they hollow out hole rather than shoving an earing in. It will heal much better and chances of infections are much lower if your taking care of it properly (which it sounds like you are)

Maybe the earing was to tight. It does sound like it may be infected, you might want to get it checked out. Infected or not you can get it pierced again, just take better care of it and always sleep on your back when you get your ears, or any place near your face pierced. ;)

you should wait at least 6 weeks to get that ear repierced. But you should get it pierced with plastic earings because i got my cartilidge peirced with that and i have sensitive ears and when i got my ear peirce with that earing it didint get infected. they have them at like clairs or incings but you can check if some others stores have it.
