Does United Airlines travel to El Salvador?

I'm traveling to El Salvador on July and in my electronic ticket appears that United Airlines is operated by TACA, but still i need to know if it goes directly to El Salvador.

There's a little bit of confusion regarding Taca and United. Taca is one of United's code share partners (Star Alliance Members), and you can earn frequent flier miles with both of them.

If you booked your ticket with United, you should be able to fly on United on the way there. You might be booked on a Taca flight if you used frequent flier miles to book your ticket.

Both Airlines fly directly to El Salvador. United would rather make money (especially at this time) than to pass it on to a partner.

Lastly, if you have any doubts, call United directly at 1-800-538-2929 (for internatinal flights) and ask them who you will be flying with.

    Best of luck.

  • Yes it does. The flight is operated by TACA but you buy it with American Airlines. When you arrive to the airport they will send you to do the check in in a TACA counter and probably you will aboard a Taca Plane. I don't know why they do that. That's why TACA sucks to me.

No matter what ur boarding pass says, you always will go directly to El Salvador.

You can buy a United ticket and be a United passenger, but the actual flights are operated by TACA using their planes. Thanks to code sharing one can frequently be on some airline other than the one selling the ticket. (My wife is going to Poland next month and will be on 6 Lufthansa flights, none of them operated by that German airline). As for stops, it is a function of where you live. There is a nonstop TACA flight from SAL to IAD (Washington Dulles) where United has a major hub.

"TACA serves more than thirty five cities, including daily flights to nine major cities in the United States, daily flights with immediate connections to important business and tourist centers in South America and the Caribbean, multiple daily flights between all of the airports in Central America, daily flights to two cities in Mexico, daily flights to Toronto, Canada, and the only scheduled service between Cuba and North America.

Our efficient and highly successful route structure centers on three hubs: one in San Jose, Costa Rica, which facilitates connections to South America; one in San Salvador, which facilitates connections to Mexico, the United States, and Europe; and the third in Lima, Peru, which facilitates connecting flights to major cities in South America."

United does offer service to San Salvador (SAL).

Depending on where you live, it may involve at least one change of planes.
