I'm trying to find a way to get the smell of cat urine out of clothes that have been washed already!?

I did wash them once with tons of detergent and it seemed to mild the scent. I ended up throwing some of them away already. But there are a few items that smell alot like the detergent rather than Cat Urine. I have a slight feeling that it's not going to come out, that's what I have been reading from other answers. It's just that some of my favorite clothes were urinated on and I am just trying to have hope that I can get them clean. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Go to walmart and find the pet section. Look for the cleaner "OUT" (white bottle pink label) Follow the instructions or just soak your clothes in it. It has the enzymes that break up urine, blood and wine stains. It was formulated for dogs/cats, but it works for most tough stains and smells. The enzymes break up the smell so that pets cant even smell it, not to mention it gets tough stains out. A bottle is like $3 at walmart.

My cats starting doing this a few months ago, so I had a few items of clothing that got sprayed. If they were white clothes, I just filled the washing machine with bleach, detergent and very hot water and let them soak for about an hour or until the water is no longer hot, then drain the water out of the washing machine and refill with fresh hot water, bleach and detergent. Let the machine run it's normal wash cycle. If they are not white clothes, I did the same thing, only with a scoop of oxyclean and detergent instead of the bleach. Then run them through the normal wash cycle. This seemed to take the smell out. Hope it helps!

Try adding a cup of white vinegar to the wash water. Set the machine for the longest wash possible and use warm water. If that does not work, try adding some Simple Green to the wash water-you may have to rinse twice, but it should take care of the odor.

There is some pet urine spray you can buy at pet stores as well as some stores like Target or Walmart that will remove the smell.

Fill the washer and add the clothes again. Add a cup of white vinegar. Let them run a full cycle, then advance your washer to add an extra rinse. Hope it works.

Wash again, adding about 1/4 c vinegar.
