why nikon's flash system is considerd superior to canon?

Many people argue about this thing though majority of pros shoot with canon even in events like weddings and parties where flash is used commonly.

Nikon has much more sophisticated wireless multi-flash-unit capability. To get comparable wireless control on Canon you need third-party gear (pocket wizards).

  • Nikon led the way with pre-flash and their metering system on their pro line was superior to canons up until 1995 when E-TTL allowed pre-flash metering.

Before then Canon metered off of the film (aka the 1981 minolta x-500 system) not to slag off minolta because they came up with ADI which both Nikon adopted (incorporating it into their 3D matrix system) and Canon eventually adopted with the EOS 30v and 300x (and subsequent digital bodies) through the E-TTL-II system, where selected RECENT canon lenses tell the flash the distance to the subject from the focus ring position thus giving the flash a bit more info to work with.

I am a canon user, I am not anti nikon like some canon users, but all credit for pushing the flash boundaries must go to Minolta. They blazed the trail. Nikon were the first to follow. Canon second. These days the systems are on a par.

    Although I Love Nikon...

This Is True.... ( canon is better over all )

Most Pros. Use Canon .. Their Camera Are More expensive, And Have More Features, Whereby Nikon's Most Expensive Camera is only 5,000$ Which Can't Touch The Canon Pro. Cameras.

Now, you saw nikon's flashes are better than canon's i don't understand why this would be.. a flash is a flash, used to illuminate subjects when you take pictures. Most of canon's flashes are almost identical in price to that of nikon. Most photographers use Canon, and canon speelights, if there was a pressing issue, don't you think it would have been improved by now at this point?

It is? There are many problems with Nikon flash units, the SB 800 is one of them. Since digital is about 100% electronic, problems will come up no matter what brand of camera or flash you are using. Even in a controlled camera shoot, you will always enconter a glitch or two.
