It really would be good to have it at home! It's often cheaper, and I remember a lot of my favourite childhood parties were at home!
If you don't want to, though, you could always ask yoru local football/cricket club if they take party reservations, as many of them do. That would be good, as there is plenty of outside and inside space.
You could have it outside if it's nice weather. Then you can make a buffet with party food like sandwiches, rolls, cocktail sausages, sausage rolls, fruit kebabs, etc. You can make it all the night before and refrigerate it, which takes the pressure off on the day.
You could make it a themed party, eg fairytale, animals, pirates.. (depending on what Amber is interested in and whether or not she has male friends coming too..)
Or you could just make it a fancy dress party with no limits! Fancy dress is great, because it already adds loads of fun to the party without you even having to do anything.
For the party itself, have a stereo out and playing some music for them to dance and have fun to. I remember I loved dancing around with my friends when I was younger! You could also play some low-hassle party games with them, like Musical Statues and Musical Bumps. You could use sweets or lollipops as prizes, or bouncy balls. Pass The Parcel is also a great party game.
If you do decide to have it outside, you could also leave out a football or two, and a frizbee or something. Bubbles, too! The type in a bottle that you blow. My nephews and their friends who are around Amber's age adore them! =]
Alternatively, you could have a water party. (It would be difficult if you didn't hold this at home).
Have a paddling pool, crazy daisy, water guns, water bombs and sprinklers. Ask everyone to come in swimming gear with a towell and spare change of clothes. They'll love it to bits, and it's a very novel and original idea for a party!
Hope I helped! xx

If you don't want to spend too much money and not at your house - go to a park reserve a spot and set up the party there. I just saw the cutest carnival theme party in the Parent's magazine or Family Fun (I can't remember which) but with little $, imagination, and help from a few of the parents you could really have a great time. You could set up booths and the kids can collect small prizes at each to make up their goodie bags - bean bag toss, one w/ popping balloons, face painting, temporary tattoos, crafts, knocking down cans w/ a ball, etc. Good Luck!

Well whatever themes her favorite, you can find it on familyfun.com . My best friend and i planned it for my little sis. She likes princesses so i typed in the website and they asked me: She likes? I picked princesses. So whatever she likes. And if she dosent like anything from those, just write that shes turning 5. Its a great website. They give you ideas for cake and invitations and all that junk. If you prefer you should make it outside the house, Just try at a local resturant. For example, Mcdonalds. When she grows up she might use that idea for her child. Im glad to help. If you have any questions dont b shy to ask. Thank you.

You could have a party at a children's play area they are usually good because you don't have to entertain the kids yourself. Another idea is having a small party at home and organising for a children's magician to come the kids love that. Do a pass the parcel and then after they have eaten it will be time for them to go home.

Have it at your home, I find parties at home are much more enjoyable. Kids still love the old games, pass the parcel is still a massive favourite (i did it for all my kids' 18th's and 21st's - adults love it too, but the prize's are of a different nature). You could always hire a magician or bouncy castle.

You could try a themed party like sea themed or monster themed, then people could come dressed up. I find that making the furniture into 'ships' and 'houses' is always fun.

you could take them all to the cinema to see kung fu panda and then hire out a cafe or something for lunch and get her a massive cake and balloons and all the kids party bags
