My car started screeching really loud when i turn hard, like parallel parking, but now it does it more often.?
First it only did it when i was parallel parking, but now it does it every time I start my car, turn any corner, and let off the gas. If it were the power steering pump would it screech all those other times? I want to take it in to a mechanic but I'm worried about going in there with absolutely no knowledge about what the problem might be. Any suggestions?

Likely the drive belt for the power steering, and/ or the alternator, if they both run off the same belt it's even more likely. When you start the engine you draw a large amount of amperage from the battery and the alternator then works hard to resupply the battery with a full charge. This causes a large load on the drive belt, if it's loose it will make a screeching noise. When you turn the steering wheel and reach full lock (one direction or the other until it stops) you make the hydraulic pump work harder than it does at a normal straight ahead position, this also adds load to the drive belt, and will make the same noise as noted earlier.
If the hydraulic pump is low on fluid you will also hear a growl noise as the pump will draw in air and cavitate, and an increase in steering effort will be noticed, sometimes the steering will feel rough, and bind slightly.

That noise you hear usually comes from two different problems. First check your power steering fluid and see if it's too low if so add some and see if the noise goes away? If the noise is still there you need to check the belt on the power steering pump. First you want to make sure the belt is tight by pulling up on it. If it seems to be loose then tighten the alternator up and see if the noise goes away? If it doesn't look at the sides of the belt does it have small cracks or tears in it? If it does then the belt is worn out and the belt should be replaced then your problem should be gone.

You need to replace the belt on your power steering. The belt, under load, is causing the noise. It will get progressively worse with time and will eventually fail.

Can't you see you are hurting it! Stop that! You probably just need power steering fluid, if you are not sure what that is then take it to an Oil Change center.

You might have a busted ball bearing in the fan rotor. It caused a high-pitched screech almost all the time. I think it was about $55.00 to repair (replace, actually).

the power steering is the problem.
1. check the fluid level
2. check to make sure the wheels aren't binding
3. check to see if you have a loose belt, if its loose tigthen it up.

it might be a loose fan belt or something like that. those tend to screech really loud when they are fraying or are on too loose.

The V belts need tightening in the engine compartment. They are slipping. Excessive slipping will burn up the belts causing them to break off.

My car does that, too. All I can say is maybe you should get your tires checked. It's probably something a bit different from that, but I'm not much help in this area. I'm sorry. Good luck!
