What is a good additive to extend the life of this transmission?

It cut off and there was a smell of rubber and smoke came out from under the hood. There was no indication of water in the oil, nor were any belts broken. Now we've put plugs in it and it runs better but cut off going round a corner. Car has many miles on it.

. I've run steaming hot water and bleach several times and it comes back shortly after. Smells like sour clothes/stinky diaper pail. Clothes come out fine and we don't leave it between running and then switching it to the dryer. Stinking up laundry room. Plz help

Its a high mileage car. But its worked perfectly until yesterday. It stalled on the road. Called a wrecker and he didn't show up so I started the car and it ran for about 5 miles, and then for what seemed like no reason it died, acted like it was running on one cylinder. After a while it started again. I shut it down in a church parking lot, afraid it wouldn't run. It sounds like a fuel pump, but if it was fuel pump it wouldn't have even started. I checked fuses thinking the fuel pump fuse had blown, its good.

I just read the resolved answer for the proper oil grade for the Honda. If the systems not broke don't change it. It apears there is a misconception of why the engineers have gone to a lower grade oil nowdays. Why put 10W40 in if it calls for 10W30. Do you know what viscosity is and how it reacts in your engine especially when the car starts? Can you imagine heavier oil. Its not going to get to the bearings on time. Go by the manufacturers recommendations.

How do you solve your static electricity problems? I ran a small cable from the frame to ground, didn't change anything. You get bitten pretty good with the static electricity.
