Is Comic Con mostly all about the comic book industry?

I went to the ComicCon in 1977. They had a lot of guest speakers, and there are folks from the industry, but it also gives you a chance to try and snag those missing issues from your mint run.

I met Rick Geary there (a personal favorite)

The main focus is the comic book world. but also incorporates everything pop culture. Books, movies, toys, anime etc.... the last 5 years, hollywood is doing their best to give previews on their big budget projects--because it sells. so they bring famous actors with them to pitch their movies. so you can see hollywood actors, if you are willing to wait in line. if this is your first time--have an open mind and enjoy the spectacle. you can be at a bar and the guy next to you could be the guy that did the artwork for movies, or comics. so as a whole, its an appreciation for all things popular arts--thats what the san diego comic con is all about. HAVE FUN

It's about EVERYTHING! All the new movies coming out whether they are based on comics, games or tv shows are tehre. Yes, the actors are there promoting their movies too. Anything pop culture related. Even the sci-fi channel had a huge booth area last year.

a lot of the stuff that it talks about is based on comics, like up-coming movies based on comics, such as the hulk, but i am not sure if actual actors are there though. i do know that a bunch of losers dressed like super-heroes and villians. it should be fun, and it will help when you go if you have atleast an appreciation for comics. if you do go, i hope you have fun. the comic-cons are about everything having to do with comics, but they also have many other people, like authors, actors, directors, etc., not to mention their annual film festival & anime screenings.

here's this year's guest list...some of the people like dean koontz, jim butcher, ray bradbury & erik estrada are enough to make me wish i could be going. :-) it helps if you go with an open mind and a good sense of humor. and if you like seeing half-naked chicks in superhero or anime outfits, this is the place to be.
