How to locate blockage in underground sprinkler line?
Have a low pressure zone- replaced valve, still low pressure. Blew out with air compressor - little improvement. Irrigation company tells me it's usually a root pinching off a line. How do you locate the area pinched?? My control wire is next to the pipe so less digging the better. It's 1 inch poly pipe. How do pro's do it?? I was going to run a long piece of 12/2 romex down the pipe from the 1st head??
Thanks

You need to locate 2 sprinkle heads. These are the two heads that have the blockage between them. One will be functioning and the other will not. To locate the non working head, remove any head in the nonworking section. take a water hose and press it firmly onto the pipe of the head you removed until water begins to flow from the other heads. Locate the one that is nearest the last head from the working side. dig around these 2 heads and dig a new trench between them. Cut them free from the bad pipe and run a fresh pipe in the new trench to reconnect the Zone.

Once I find the line that is blocked, i pull both heads..Then I push a wire snake or stringer into the line... When it pushes hard or won't go any farther, mark the snake and remove it from the pipe.& lay it on the grass above the pipe,...you've got your spot to dig.
