Ultra Sound Scan at 14 weeks 5 days??
Well, I went to the OB on June 16th...I was 11 weeks 4 days pregnant.... The doctor finally found the babies heartbeat, which made me really relieved. Then, out of the blue he asked if I had an ultrasound done yet. I told him NO and he said well, you will at your next appointment. They scheduled my appointment for July and I will be 14 weeks and 5 days pregnant. I know they found the heartbeat higher up than they expected too...... Would this warrant an ultrasound? Do you think they are looking for something specific or is it just routine? I have gone to them for all of my pregnancies and have never had an ultrasound before 20 weeks before unless there was a problem. Do you think they could think there are more than one? Should I be concerned? What are the chances of my finding out the sex of the baby? I am not sure if I will get any more ultrasound scans......

I would relax! focus on taking care of yourself and the baby.
If he thought something was wrong, it would have been an emergency ultrasound scheduled for the next week at the latest. Ultrasounds are very commonplace these days, just to make sure everything's ok. It doesn't mean anything is wrong!

Hi. It seems like a lot of doctors now are doing routine ultrasounds at each appointment. If there was something to worry about, the doctor probably would have told you. If you are still nervous about it though, just give your doctor's office a call and let them know your concern.
The likelihood of finding out the sex is pretty low. I found out the sex of my daughter at 16 weeks, but that was with a very sophisitcated machine because I was high risk. I wouldn't take anything as a "for sure" in terms of the sex of the baby until 20 weeks, but you might get an accurate determination as early as 16 weeks.

I had an ultrasound the 1st time I went to the OB/GYN about my pregancy and I was around 8 wks. And no, they won't be able to tell the sex of the baby. I think that it's just routine.

i dont know if your from england or america but in england we have one at 12-14 weeks and one at 20 weeks. i cant believe you have only ever had one scan at 20 weeks iv never heard this before. most ppl have one around the time your going to have one its just to check if the babys growing in the right place, if theres more then one, see if the heartbeats healthy, but no your shouldnt be able to find out the sex of the baby, that usually happen after 16weeks, but if they do tell you dont take it as 100% as your quite early to find out. good luck! and enjoy your scan! your doc doesnt think theres out wrong its just normal. congrats!! :)
