Carl Pavano? He's coming back in August?

First I've heard, I thought he was done. If he can pitch again and maintain a high major league standard, shouldn't he pitch '09 or part of '09 for the Yankees for free? I'm not bitter--a guaranteed contract is what it is, but he owes us some innings. Thoughts?

Update:

this is a question about carl pavano and the yankees. go somewhere else and cry about the red sux.

Well we have him under contract so why not use him for whatever we can get out of him this year. I mean the guy has only pitched 19 games in the four years he's been with us. The biggest bust of any big league player. 40 Million for 4 years 19 games. We should get a refund.

What's he coming back for? To throw out the opening pitch on Old Timer's Day? If the Yanks are banking on that stiff for anything besides a lift to the park in his Mercedes, then they are in big trouble.

He was fine when he signed his contract. That he hasn't been able to deliver is just one of those things.

On the other hand, Schilling must have known he had a bum wing when he signed this winter. If anyone is owed anything it must be the Red Sox.
