What are the chances of choosing a red ball and then having that ball be from box #2?

Okay, box #1 has 8 white balls, 2 blue balls, and 6 red balls. Box #2 has 3 white balls, 5 blue balls, and 3 red balls. Box #3 has 2 white balls, 7 blue balls, and 3 red balls.

Question #1 What are the chances of choosing a red ball?

Question #2 What are the chances the red ball is from box #2?

note: the answer is 7/24 for the first part and 2/7 for the second part...but why?

    A1..12 out of 39 =12/39

    A2.. 1 out of 3 =1/3

    explanation ..you have a total of 39 balls ....12 of them are red ..so if you put your hand in to grab one ..you have 12 chances of getting a red one ...

    You have 3 boxes ...the chances of you putting your hand in box #2 is 1 out of 3 because there is 3boxes and you can only put your hand in one .
