Christian men: If al Qaeda invaded us today...?

Would you claim your wife was your sister and give her to the al Qaeda number one in order to save your own life?

Update:

Well, according to the Bible Abraham did exactly this. (See Genesis, Chapter 12, New Testament). And God punished the Egyptian Pharaoh, not Abraham.

Update 2:

Did God made a mistake in not punishing Abraham for this transgression? And if not, why wouldn't you do it? The Bible set a precedent for sacrificing your wife to save your own skin, so why wouldn't you?

Please try talk your way out of this one.

Update 3:

Cynthia: Read the question carefully.

Update 4:

Simplicimus: Yeah, the Pharaoh backed off pretty quickly because Abraham lied to him. But hey, that didn't stop God, he still punished the Pharaoh. And using al Qaeda was an example. Just insert enemy X into the equation if it makes you more comfortable.

Update 5:

brownies: Uh, this is from the New Testament. How did you do on he reading comprehension portion of your SATs?

Update 6:

Jeancomm: please enlighten me as to how God punished Abraham. I'd love to know. According to the Bible, he continued to shower Abraham with wealth, livestock, good crops, multiple wives, multiple children, etc. How is this punishing?

Here we go again! What you mean to say is that scripture does not record Abraham's punishment. How can one speak with absolute certainty regarding the acts of God? The answer is that no one can, unless they are incredibly pompous and ignorant.

Most of al Qaeda are hiding in caves in Afghanistan using weapons from the Soviet era...or the ones the US gave them to fight the former Soviet Union...yeah it's true, the US helped arm al Qaeda. They're still a nasty bunch, but they're hardly a potential force for global domination.

I don't think that this will happen.

But, for the sake of answering this hypothetical question, I can't see any of my male relatives handing me over. My dad is an upstanding citizen who is very brave as is my brother and my husband. In the case that I'm wrong and one of them did, I know some self-defense moves. Passed that, seeing as I am female and will never have the physical strength of the average male, I guess I'd be screwed. (both literally and figuratively)

Oh, btw, I'm sorry for nor reading the question carefully as it was directed towards Christian men. I thought I'd offer a female take on it anyway.

Also Abraham giving his wife to Pharaoh was a pretty *insert expletive here* to do, but then again, the Old Testament is full of people doing terrible things to one another. I'm certainly not a Biblical scholar so someone else may know something that I don't, but I don't see how anyone can see the Old Testament as representation of a loving god. I mean, if you're going to believe in the entire Bible, do you just believe that God one day decided to stop being a colossal jerk?

Source(s): Spiritual - believe in a loving God.

No but in a way Abraham did is that what you are getting at? Next Al Qaeda invasion makes me laugh. There are more rednecks armed to the teeth here in just Arizona then there are Al Qaeda.

*edit* I would have to say that God did punish Abraham with no children for about 70 to 80 years. I don't know if that was his punishment but it sounds like it could be.

This is a nonsensical question. al Qaeda's nature is cowardice. These people do not stand and fight in the open; rather they skulk about like theives. When they do pull something off they quickly run away and hide behind their women and children.

As for Abraham, having his wife pose as his sister made it less likely that anybody would mess with her while they were both in captivity in Egypt. Read the rest of the account and you will learn that the Pharao backed off quickly when he learned the truth.

No they won't leave Iraq. They will look at it as a victory. Then over throw the new government that is in place and take over the country. If you want to learn more about this do extensive research and read everything, even if you feel it goes against your belief system. It's the only way to truly learn the extent of a threat the terrorists really are.

Abraham got punished by God for it so it is not the smart thing to do. I have always said that God has used the most unusual people, because in their weakness God is portrayed as strong.

Of course you are refering to Abraham introducing his wife as his sister to pharoah. Here is an interesting paper on the subject:

American women can be very vicious. If someone did that to me I would single handedly take out al Qaeda and then come after whoever gave me away. I would use my very sharp teeth.

EDIT: Wait, according to your added details, al Qaida existed in Abraham's lifetime? what?

Al Qaeda would go directly up to Obama and become his campain advisor.

Al Queada invading? I dont think so. Bush is the only one doing any invading. Your wives can sleep safely as can you. Why would they want your wifes anyway? And why would you so easily give them up?

I know i would not give up my faith nor would my husband give me away, he would fight to the death as would i.

I think therein lies the difference.
