Need help finding child fathered in Japan!?
My uncle recently passed away and before his death, he told me that he had fathered a child when he was stationed on Okinawa. I am desperate to find this long lost relative but have almost no information. I have never attempted something like this before and was hoping for suggestions on where to start.
Thanks.

I agree, you have to find out the mother's info as much as possible. Find out her name, hometown, etc. She might still be in the same area but who knows. She could have moved to anywhere in the world. If you can find out if she lived with her parents or that address, there's a good chance that house is still owned by the family. Another option is to write your story and send it to the Okinawan newspapers because they post these kind of long lost stories. Of course you will need as much info as possible or every abandoned military kid will ring your bell! Ryukyu Shimpo and Okinawa Times. I think these stories are usually in the Times. If you need help because you fear sending the whole thing in English, perhaps the Okinawa Association of America might help, I can't say they will for sure, but they're a volunteer group of Okinawan descent people and some members regular post articles to newspapers in Okinawa.

Coincidentally my cousin is one of those abandoned children and I've been thinking about asking his mother for whatever she knows about the father to see if I can find this guy in America so at least we know family medical history in case he and his children need to know this stuff. So I'm sure if you do find the child, it might be awkward but they might appreciate it as well.

I'm now not certain if you are asking approximately Japanese immigration (AT the Airport) issues. Japanese immigration might now not require you to exhibit the consent kind even if you're traveling with youngsters on my own. At least I've in no way been requested for the identical consent at Japanese Airport (whilst I simply get ready the kind on the comfort of Canadian customs) No one might ask you approximately your "kid's precise studies" or "Birth Certificate" so long as your cause of traveling in Japan is just one-month-lengthy "sight-seeing"
