John Coleman has done no advanced study in climatology. His only education is a journalism degree from the University of Illinois. He's an ex-weatherman who started the Weather Channel. If Today Show weatherman Al Roker were to announce that he was convinced that global warming is a big joke, no one would take that claim seriously. But Coleman has no more background in the scientific literature than Roker does.

  • So you'll have an idea what the weather is like near you. We get it for Bush and Hobby. Although no one actually lives at the airport, they might in the vicinity. Houston is a big city, they give reports in the major areas near us, but they don't do a suburb by suburb temperature. If they say, NW Houston, that's pretty close to us.

I think it's a central location and residents there kind of know if where they are is warmer or cooler compared to the airport and can then make a reasonable and educated guess. The Weather channel can't possibly give everyone their information.

  • Because they are prime indicators for the surrounding areas and that is where the National Weather Service puts their equipment. Does it really matter? My knees predict weather better than the weather people do anyway.

They give the temperature from the airport because the airport already has that information as they need it for flying conditions. Also the airport would have very accurate readings, as they need it once again for flying conditions, so their reading must be accurate.

It shows the temperature of the area, it doesn't have to be exact to a town.

Well, it gives it for the area. You might be stopping in that city for a few days.

I don't know, I live like 5 minutes away from the station, let me go ask. BRB...

EDIT: So the people would know what they need to prepare for if they're going on a flight. =)
