Have we come a long way baby?

When thinking about the modern woman, consider how much choice she now possesses compared to her predecessors.

With the advancements women have made in career, freedom and social choice, has it cost women everything?

Rarely is anything 100% gain, usually you have to lose something in exchange.

So what have women lost in return for the benefits they've gained?

Or have they lost anything at all?

Update:

I am sorry, gang.. I meant to say..

"Has it cost women anything?" Not Everything..

Every freedom has added responsibility along with it, but that's not always a bad thing.

The main thing we've lost is protection; men are often less willing to support or help us, and we have to look after ourselves. How much that affects each woman really depends on her own personality and outlook.

I think children are the ones who've lost the most.

I think if you are a stay-at-home mother, you have lost something in that this is no longer considered a respectable occupation. However, there are very few of us left so i suppose it really doesn't matter all that much. Most women nowadays are 'jugglers' and they seem to enjoy it, so I suppose that is a good thing.

However, judging by the number of unhappy women there seem to be on the 'marriage and divorce' section on this site, possibly not all of them are blissfully happy. I suppose there might be the tiniest fly in the ointment for one or two of them, who knows?

I suppose you could say that women have lost the security of following a predetermined path in life, from college to marriage to kids. But that's a petty loss (especially considering how few women these days live like that).

"So what have women lost in return for the benefits they've gained?"

I'd say the ones who don't like having choices are the ones who have lost. I personally don't think I've lost anything at all.

Edit: Don't you love IC, attempting to inform us of how we feel about our lives. That must be an example of "male logic" we hear so much about on this site.

We have definately come a long way. I can't see anything good we have lost by not allowing ourselves to be stepped all over by men.

Those who say they have not lost anything at all are in very simple words lying.

Entropy always increases. And that is more fundamental than feminism.
