Well I am a teacher in Texas and I did not get my degree in education. If you already have a degree that is totally unrelated to education all you need now is a certification. Most big districts have a certification program you can apply for where you can work and get certified at the same time. If you dont have a degree then I would suggest checking out those schools that have an online degree program. Those classes are cheaper. Check with the different universities as far as scholarships are concerned. All the programs I know of are for newly graduating seniors who want to be teachers. School will probably cost about $50,000 for four years but there are programs that will help repay your school loans if you teach in a low-socioeconomic school for a minimum of like four years.
