The Constitution provides that the government will not establish or prohibit free excersize of religion.

    The 1st Amendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The Supreme Court has ruled, however, that the government may indeed restric certain religious expressions which are declared unlawful as long as the law covers all religions equally.

For example, they are allowed to restrict the use of peyote (a hallucinigenic drug) even though it is used in the religious rites of Native Americans.

Human sacrifice goes well beyond the use of peyote.

We practice it today in the form of the keeping of an underclass of people without any hope of getting out of their situation.

We also have a small sacrifice program going in the region where it was practiced thousands of years ago, showing that, no matter how much we progress, some things never change.

Iraq is where assyria and Babylon were.

Great thought...kinda scary, too, huh??? Thankfully though, no, that kind of thing would not be allowed, in the US, at least.

I believe if you reread the amendment, it enables freedom of religious belief, not always would that include 'religious action' if it infringed on other human rights.

Would be an ironic scene at abortion clinics if a sect like the one you describe went to war with the zealots of other sects in the parking lots...the media would go absolutely nuts, wouldn't they???

    Good Journey!!!

No, since that is going above and beyond. Besides, I do not know of any religions or cults that sacrifices humans anymore. That has gone out of style. However, there are a few Santaria - type cults that sacrifice animals like goats occasionally, but you would have to research that a bit.

This has become one of the world biggest problem in understanding faith and religion. Religion can be associated with anything or anybody. But Faith is total different because you are directing your belief toward a relationship. GOD !

    Yes....it would still be murder.

If freedom of religion doesn't allow children to be molested like the FLDS cult.....it definitely won't protect murder.

It is still murder according to the law of the land and commandments of God.

No. There are many religious practices that are not allowed because they violate the law - such as a religion that wants to use hallucinogenic drugs.

it could. i mean polygamy is illegal and ppl still do it b/c its "part of their religious practice". however, i dont think the ppl who wrote our constitution ever thought that any new religions would come to form in America.
