How is the global economy going to prosper when energy prices are too expensive to travel?

It looks like we humans are headed for a great depression. What are your thoughts on lifestyle changes that have to change because our lifestyle was largely based energy consumption. And now energy is too expensive. Maybe will go back to playing marbles and horseshoes.

Update:

I don't think the enviromentalists want us to travel because cars, jets, trains, and ships pollute the air and they say causes global warming.

If you are in Canada or the US our fuel prices are higher but no where near what they are in Western Europe, Japan etc. This is a new reality for us. People from Western Europe and Japan seem to travel a lot so I wouldn't get too caught up in there being a "world depression". Certainly it will slow things down but it will all work out.
