what is the best thread count for a down comforter?

i have looked at overstock.com and i saw that the ones that i like are ranged from 300 to 400 thread counts. I was wondering if those are considered good thread counts or should i look for something much higher

Those are both adequate. The higher you go, the higher the cost.

Thread count is the material it's made of, the higher the thread count the better the material and the longer it will last. Also the more expensive it is. Some materials you can see through with the low thread counts.

The higher the better. It all depends on what feels good to you.
