I would also stand with the Muslims if the political winds shifted in an ugly direction and they were facing the possibility of internment or other government sanctioned discriminations, just like any decent American would. That is, after all, what the ENTIRE passage was talking about that you are quoting.

While I'd agree with stackoladan on the context of what Obama said in this one particular instance, there are many, MANY other things Obama has said where he has manifested his confused liberal ideology, his hostility toward white/mainstream America, and his overall poor judgement, despite some pretty and high-sounding fluff in his speeches.

P.S. : It's not that Obama is muslim that's the issue, or that all muslims are terrorists. Many muslims are very patriotic Americans because they escaped persecution in their own country by coming here, and can actually practice Islam more freely here than they could in their own country.

The issue is whether, in addition to being pro-muslim, if Obama just has bad ideas that would fail to protect the U.S. from RADICAL islam. The kind of liberals that the Iranian government and Al Qaeda call "useful idiots", who take principled stands that undermine U.S. national interests, and advance their own radical islamic objectives, wittingly or unwittingly.

In the post 9/11 era, that quote alone should have knocked him from the race. Of course, Wright should have also. Farrakhan should have also. Ayers should have also...................

I haven't read the book,but it's possible that he meant if the

Muslim minority in America were to be persecuted because of the actions of extremists,he would stand with them.

If he were to get voted, and wound up supporting terrorists, he would be kicked out of office, faster than a shooting cannon ball.

This quote is taken way out of context. He doesn't want the innocent Muslims to be treated like the Japanese in World War II. Let me get the real quote for you.

Yes he will stand with the Muslims because there is a lot of bad sentiment toward them following 9/11. That is not right. Someone needs to stand up for the innocent ones. It doesn't make him a Muslim or a terrorist like you and your like minded friends think. Stop spreading the lies. Were the terrorists Jewish or Christian or atheist? No they were Muslim.

If any of you republicans bother to actually read Audacity of Hope as I have, prepare to be inspired and most likely have a new found respect for Obama.

i hate him. so much. mccain so deserves it way more. hes been in a war, and in prison during the war. in church they read a quote from him, that he wrote in prison. it was amazing, but idr it it was really long. it was kinda like a story he wrote. but yeah.

I don't know who he is for. He has not done a good job of showing his love and concern for the American people. But Hillary Clinton has. I trust her. I don't trust Obama. I would not buy a used car from him.
